Elias is signed at what...$6 million? Morrison and Ohlund combined make $6.7 million. Bad idea Nonis.
The Canucks can easily sign someone on defence , maybe not as good as Ohlund but still someone decent. And dude as much as you may not like the trade , the Canucks desperatley NEED goals and offence and Elias as an elite player.

He also plays the only forward position where the Canucks have any depth (LW). And who the hell is Nonis going to sign to replace Ohlund on defense, this trade doesn't really leave us that much more cap-room then we already have. Overall, we'll be down-grading at centre (C), and on defense (D) just to upgrade the LW where we already have legitimate depth.

Eklund could be behind this , it's possible.

And who knows if XM is legit or not!! I would think it is , but they also said Guerin was on the verge of signing yesterday and nothing has happened there yet. So.....

Woah I would have thought Canucks fans would be happy about aquiring a top player like Elias but couldn't be more than the opposite.

It's brutal for both, let's all be honest.

You don't fix problems by creating others.

And NJ scores so many goals, they don't mind sending their leading scorer in every season over the last seven seasons (minus when he was out for half the year with Hep. A).

You're right, XM is top notch. They break all the big signings and trades.

VANCOUVER PROVINCE: Tony Gallagher reports of "rumours around the league" of a possible trade between the Vancouver Canucks and New Jersey Devils involving Brendan Morrison and Patrik Elias.

The XM Satalite Radio report was from half an hour ago and is an actual trade rather than speculation by the Vancouver Province. And Rasumussen was a mistake , it is now said it is unknown at the moment who else if anyone would be going to Vancouver with Elias....could just be Elias. The deal is NOT done and more could be added/changed but it could go down very soon.

To VAN: Elias, possibly more

To NJ: Morrison , Ohlund , draft pick

Please don't close this again , this was on the radio and I will keep listening to hear more. Also Daren Dreger discussed a Canucks/Devils deal on Sportscenter yesterday but didn't mention names.
Gallagher is an idiot, does anyone even take that guy serious anymore? This guy should be working for the national inquirer, but i guess working for The Province is the same thing these days. Both are tabloid trash, but one calls itself a newspaper.

The Canucks could very well be getting someone with Elias.

I believe Eklund works for XM. Considering this rumor involves two players with NTC and originally included a player that is an UFA I would suspect Eklund to be behind it. It sounds very much like a Eklund rumor.

Elias is pretty much the same as Naslund, why would they want two underachieving wingers? One is usually enough.

As a Canuck fan i love the trade for this season, but not after that, Naslund is getting old, so in 1-3 years Elias wont have a wing partner, who do we put between them? And i really dont want to be handicapped by his contract when Elias is 34,35,36,and finally 37. The contract is just way to big, i dont want any part of it now that i think of it, the key to this post-CBA era is having flexibility, and if Elias is still choking away 6 mil, that gives us less $$$ to give Luongo, Bieksa, Kesler, Krajicek, Grabner, Bourdon and the Sedins when they're contract is up, basically if we get Elias we're handicapping our core. I dont want that
