Does anyone know what our new lines are, and where we are with the salary cap??? I thought I read that Nashville is still under the cap by about $5 Million???
With Kariya leaving town and Nashville being under the cap, I am wondering if any of you think the Preds would consider the following deal with the Kings:
To Nashville: Mike Cammalleri
To LA: Ryan Suter or Shea Weber
Nashville gets a bona fide young sniper that will likely be making $4M - $5M a season to replace Kariya. LA gets a young defenseman to pair with Jack Johnson.
Personally, no. I think they intend to keep the D corp intact and win with D, PK, stingy goaltending. If they don't spend the $ on another 3rd liner, I think they will renegotiate with some current players to pay more and get them locked up for longer.
Cam would be nice to have, but our top 2 lines are pretty solid right now. For our money, we really just need a couple of nice 3rd liners, and I don't think Cam on the third line would be good. Our top two defensive pairings are good, we can't afford to lose anyone from our current d-corps.
Anyone know of our actual commited salary right now as it stands? Or at least a link to where I can find out? I heard somewhere on these boards we likely have to spend 3-4 mil to hit the cap floor. Yet have heard nothing about potential 3rd line type UFA pickups.
if this is the team that Nashvile has and is currently under the cap by 3-4 Million, I would say that the team has a pretty good shot this year if a new owner comes along and wants to spend say 10 million to get a couple of studs. And we would still be under the upper cap by over 5 Mil...but like the last guy said anyone have a link to where Nashville is sitting currently with the cap and roster???

Not too bad a deal, if its for Suter.
Weber is untouchable (a board rule should be pinned to the top of the message board - no mention of Weber in a trade proposal unless Crosby or Ovechkin are included).
With Franson and Klein ready or almost ready, we could easily replace Suter, and we have no decent offensive prospects. Zids-Hammer, Weber-Klein, Devries-Zanon and adding Cammaleri as a forward would make us a better team long and short run.
Cammaleri is young, +5 on a horrible team, and would have been our leading goal scorer last year. The only downside is he's kinda smallish, and we have plenty of that.
Sorry, but I don't think this is that bad of a proposal outside the fact we don't need a center. I watched a few Kings games last season I really like what Mr. Cammalleri
brings night in night out.

Sorry forgot to help this dude out on his questions, got caught up in that trade proposal. With Trotz, you will "never" know until after about the 10th game of the season who and what our lines are. IMO they should look like this.
*You could swap several different ways like swap Fiddler with Nichol or Ortmeyer and Tootoo. I would put Tootoo up just because he has IMO more upside on offense if they could teach him to slow down a bit. I think Tootoo over skates way too much and if they could get him to slow down a bit he'd be more in control of his offense.
Incorrect - you're at $32,291,903 (or $1,708,097 under the floor), with Zanon and Fiddler's arbitration cases to be decided ... and that's counting 23 guys, unlike the 19 the other site is using.

Sorry, we can't give up Visnovsky. I knew that I probably went overboard in mentioning Weber, but you gotta try. Anyway, I think Cammalleri for Suter would be a fair deal and one that the Kings would probably consider.
The Kings have a real lack of depth in defenseman in Suter's age range and the is a strength for the Preds. I would think that with Kariya leaving town you could use a guy like Cammalleri. Someone mentioned that you don't need another center. Even though his position is listed as center on a lot of websites Mike plays on the wing almost exclusively. And yeah, he is a bonafide sniper. He isn't a 50 goal man like Heatly, but he is going to be up around 30 every season for many years to come.

There is zero chance Weber is dealt for Cam., unless he holds out and refuses to play for any other team besides the Kings. There are probably only 5-10 players I would trade Shea Weber for straight up, and it includes the likes of Kovalchuk, Crosby, and Ovechkin. Yeah, these guys are more valuable than Weber, but Shea is going to be one of the top 5 defensemen in the NHL. His development curve has been unreal, and I do not think the Predators will ever intentionally let him go.

I would not put Legwand at wing.
Trotz's system is such that the center has, by far, the most defensive responsibility of any of the forwards. He also should be the player bringing the puck into the offensive zone on his line. If you stick him at wing, you would lose a huge part of what Legwand brings to the table.
Now if you could find a wing/center to play on Legwand's line that is good at faceoffs, that would take the FO, then play wing.....I would be more ok with that, but Legwand can never be asked to be the finisher on any line.....he needs a finisher on his line to optimize the package that he can bring to the team.
I can't see Legwand being moved to the wing, he's too good of a backchecking Center to be moved to the wing and I don't see him being built for that role. We'll lose his speed and puck possession playing with Erat and possibly Radulov.
Furthermore, we'd have to get a pretty good FA signing to replace Legwand at center. With it being late in the game in terms of signing players and our ownership issues, we'll have a hard time finding someone to upgrade Legwand.
If we get someone, it will have to be through a trade.
Does anyone know if Mike Peca has played any wing during his career? I was looking through the UFAs left, and I would love to see him on the third line.
When Peterson was on the radio the other day he said Bonk would be playing the 3 or 4th line, so I wouldn't pencil him in at 3 just yet. We might sign Peca and have 4 really good centers.
does anyone see a further breakout of Erat? Like a PPG or over? I've always thought highly of him and he has continued to develop, and he should get some more ice-time now.
