Downie in 07-08

Put a percentage on the chances we see him make the Opening Night lineup and stick for the year...

10% We've got a spot open for someone on the fourth line. If he improves his skating I say 20%. The kid has to be the slowest skater I've ever seen, he made Hatcher look fast.

unless they move umberger no chance...if they move umberger 40%...if they move umberger but sign or trade for 4th line center/enforcer 10%...

i had read scouting reports say he needed to improve his skating I assumed it meant get stronger on the puck or getting through traffic...i never read about him being slow...he seems average speed during games

All I know is this: if the Phantoms and Flyers both make the playoffs, there is a 100% chance that Downie will have a better playoff beard than Briere.

If the Flyers want Ruzicka and Potulny to spend the whole year with the Phantoms, I can't imagine they'll toss Downie into the fire especially not on opening night

That is pretty ridiculous when you think about it...I can understand certain curse words, but that is not really very bad if you ask me. It isnt like we are living in 1940, geez. Hell, you can say the F word in PG13 movies now......

10%.

Now, he'll likely end up playing 10-20 games as an injury call up, but more than 20 means we've been devastated by injuries again.

Best thing for him to spend most of his time with the Phantoms.

The end results is that we want him to develop into a 2nd line winger. Yes, he could play in the NHL for 8 minutes a pop as a 4th liner, but the goal is to develop him into the best possible hockey player he can be.

I guess a little exaggeration never hurt anyone.

Just out of curiosity, did you use "son of" in front of it?

Though I'll admit he certainly isn't fast by any means, I think Downies stride makes him look slower than he actually is. It's labored and awkward looking but he gets the job done. Hopefully he can improve on it somewhat, but he's far from the "slowest skater I've ever seen".

I think a year in the AHL, with the odd callup, would do him a lot more good than playing 4th line minutes with the Flyers.

more than anything, the kid needs to play. he's not going to get a lot of ice time with the flyers. give him a year in the ahl where he'll get first/second line time and build up some confidence/reputation.

Well he may have been hurt, but I watched him for two days at camp and he was the slowest player on the ice. Now that I think about it I hope he was hurt.

they both played half the games last season.. and will play at least half the games (most likely ALL the games) this season.

look for potulny and ruzicka to be consistent 4th line warriors.

We sucked bad last year. We won't suck bad this year. Both of them won't be in th eline-up on a regular basis. Not even sure that one will be.
