Ah, but it isn't. "If either Scott or Teemu were to comeback.. and you had to chose between one or the other, who would you prefer to have back??". At least that was the question i was answering.

And i'm not too sure about the contribution factor either. Without Nieds, we still have Pronger who is better, and with Beauch & Schneider still form an excellent top 3. Teemu is far and away our best forward, he's the only one who could be considered elite. Without him, we're putting an awful lot of pressure on the kids to produce because we would not only loose Teemu's production but Mcdonald's and Kunitz's production would suffer too.

'Drats is signed for one year, 500K. Pretty reasonable.

What is the latest on the salaey cap? Are we in trouble if (a nice problem to have) Teemue and Scotty decide to play. Is there any cap room? What alternatives are available if they want to come back?

It depends on how you look at it.

2007-08 Cap Limit - 55,330,00 inculdes 10% summer overage
Contract Salaries - 48,044,681
Remaining Cap Space - 7,285,319

This includes everybody who is currently on a one-way contract and players who were on two-way contracts for the portion of days they were on the NHL roster the prior year.

Or you can look at who is most likely going to play, but the issue is the cap is calculated on a daily basis.

Scott Niedermayer - 6.75m
Chris Pronger - 6.25m
JS Giguere - 6.00m
Mathieu Schneider - 5.62m
Todd Bertuzzi - 4.00m
Andy McDonald - 3.33m
Todd Marchant - 2.52m
Rob Niedermayer - 2.00m
Francios Beauchemin - 1.65m
Samuel Pahlsson - 1.40m
Sean O'Donnell - 1.25m
Ilya Bryzgalov - 1.18m
Chris Kunitz - 1.06m
Travis Moen - 912K
Shane Hnidy - 758K
Ryan Getzlaf - 740K
Corey Perry - 614K
Brad May - 600K
Kent Huskins - 600K
George Parros - 550K

Total = 47.784 M for 20 players

The list as I have it has seven defenseman on it right now....It's based on the most logical list of players who would play for Anaheim....If Niedermayer retires, you can do the math by removing him, replacing him with Kondratiev.

Honestly at this point, you can run figures with Bryzgalov out the picture. Brian Burke tonight pretty much said "we are going to find him a place to play... he deserves it". That can only mean a trade so that he can find a team to play first string goalie.

hes been saying that for a while now and nothing has happened, so well just assume he is on the team for now.
