It depends. If all eight show that they can play, then we trade Zidlicky. If not, then Koistinen goes.
Zidlicky, Suter, Hamhuis, Weber and DeVries are safe.
It's up to Zanon, Klein and Koistinen. I think Trotz likes Zanon (as do I). I hate to get rid of Klein. Koistinen has the best chance of making it through waivers.
Klein or Zidlicky gets traded, which ever one Poile gets the best value for.
Although I've been predicting that for a season now...most value, they put him in every conceivable situation down here on the ice. But, with Zids being the veteran, who knows, sale both for a goal - scorer up front (?) I'd love to see Ville make it, for a small kid, he's stocky (plays much bigger), and man can he skate! They put him on the wing in some instances even. Had a couple of end - to - end rushes that were amazing. But, his size still might be a factor against him...
I would like to see Zidlicky get another shot at being our #1 scoring defenseman. If he still struggles to get shots on net and picks bad times to join the rush, then test the market. I'd also like to let Klein get some meaningful playing time at the NHL level. As for the start of the season, I think it will be imperative to hold on to both of them. I think we know that it is doubtful we'll stay completely healthy throughout the year, so Klein will be an integral call-up at the least. With things the way they are right now, I'd say Klein will see 20-30 games this year anyway.
john glennon recently said that zidlicky has a no trade clause in his contract (i didn't remember that being announced when he signed the deal, but glennon said it in one of his articles the other day)
