If you could undo 1, and only 1 move that Sather has made in his tenure here, what would it be?

remember, you are undoing a move he ACTUALLY made, not inventing new moves for him to do.

I wish he didnt draft the Huge Specimen.

If we're not talking about draft picks, then I wish he did not trade Zidlicky.

For some reason that was the first move that popped into my head.

If you take away him drafting Jessimen, that means he would have had to have taken ANYONE else that went in the first round, which would have been an upgrade.

trading Jagr as late as in 2003

he should trade him sooner I think in 2001 (so Jagr would never play in WSH, but since 01/02 in NYR)

But getting Jagr for what he did is one of the best steals in a long time. Jagr's value would surely be more than Anson Carter for Jagr at half price.

maybe, but his trade to WSH in 2001 was steal as well

Jagr was traded to Washington by Pittsburgh with Frantisek Kucera for Kris Beech, Michal Sivek, Ross Lupaschuk and future considerations, July 11, 2001.

so NYR could build team around him since 2001

1)Jessiman over Getzlaf and Parise. Jessiman was a stretch when they took him and he remains to be a stretch.

1) Mike York for Tom Poti

1a) Zidlicky for Dunham

Both of those trades irritated me then- though the Dunham deal was made under emergency conditions- and still piss me off to this day. I'm surprised with all the hate for Poti that that deal hasn't been mentioned yet.

There are many...

Ozo seemed to have been a waste and re-upping Kaspar costs cap space. Those salaries last season could've been used on someone who could've helped the Rangers win the Cup (like signing a real centerman instead of Cullen or a better defenseman than Aaron Ward).

Brining back Mr. Mark Messier. Big mistake, although Mess is one of my favorite all time.

Then proceeding to play him on the PK when it was obvious to every person on the planet except our coaching staff that he simply didn't have the speed to properly pressure the point men at that stage in his career.

I'm not going to pick a specific trade. I would, however, had liked it if Sather waited a bit longer before he purged the team at the deadline.

First of all, getting Jagr at half-price was the best move Sather ever made, there should never be any insult regarding that.

Second, trading Zidlicky for Dunham HAD to happen, Richter retired because he needed to and the second coming in Blackburn blew up in our face, he had to do what he did.

Third, trading York looked like a bad move at the time, but he is not a top six forward, I would tend to say he never was, Fleury and Lindros made him much better, even though I loved the kid.

Fourth, all of these current moves (Malik, Ward, Cullen) that people are talking about are all moves that worked out in the end. Malik and Cullen have been very good players for us, who have helped us have success in the playoffs. Ward was traded for Mara who was very successful in a Rangers uniform when he was here and I am hoping we hold onto him as he is a solid second pairing, second PP unit D-man.

The worst move that Sather ever made in my opinion was, hands down, trading Marc Savard and our 1st round draft pick in 1999 for Jan Hlavac, 1st and 3rd round selections in 1999. This was after Savard had a pretty good rookie season in a Rangers uniform and we were pretty certain he would be something special.

It didn't have to happen. Sather waited too long. He played Blackburn in 18 straight games — something that was completelt unfair. The kid was gassed, he didn't blow up in our face. When he finally made a deal the Rangers were in a worse situation than they were when Richter went down. He put himself in a position of weakness when it came to getting a goalie. So, yes he had to get a goalie. But put himself in a bad position and overpaid.

Philosophically this trade was a disaster. They traded a kid who came up in the system who was a hard worker with decent skill for a comsumate underachiever who was run out of Edmonton of all places. And whether he was the product of playing with Fleury and Lindros, York was productive. He was also what really made that line go.

Sather didn't make that trade, Neil Smith did.

I think the entire deadline maneuvering before the lockout was a bust.

Guys we acquired who have played for us...

Rachunek
Balej
McAllister
Liffiton
Immonen
Kondratiev
Markannen
Betts

Am i missing anyone?

Out of those guys only rachunek and betts really had an impact (mild one at best)

We gave up a boatload of talent in Leetch, nedved, barnaby, simon, kovalev, rucinsky, de vries.

I dont want to hear about the players we drafted with acquired picks becuase it doesnt make the compensation that much better.
