fascinating. Better return than I would have thought, if just for the 3rd round pick in there.

Any scouting reports on Hutchinson? TSN says he's a PP quaterback...makes me wonder if the Rangers are thinking of more moves, especially on D.

Oh, and cue "why'd they trade Cullen? OMG, best 3rd line center in the league" yadda yadda

edit: Wasn't Joe Barnes one of the players that someone around here really liked in the 2005 draft, and the Rangers took Dupont instead?

you would not want one of the best defensive centers in the league for the checking line if he comes in cheap? If not, who do you have taking that spot, Dubinsky? Is he ready for a full-time role with the big club?

As of now, i'll have to take Peca if he comes cheap. I'm just sorry for seeing Cullen go and shaking up this team so much.

maybe we dont even sign peca, maybe we use the money to resign avery and hossa and actually give Dubinsky, Immonen or a young player a chance. Or Avery plays centre with dawes on the wing.

Hutchinson would have to go through waivers to get sent down, maybe Pock or Hollweg gets dealt to make room for him.

Joe Barnes is a very solid prospect. Had a major injury last year, but the Rangers liked him at the 2005 draft and Draft Guru did as well.

Nice pick-up for Cullen. Would've liked to have kept him, but at least it shows the naysayers that he actually had a decent amount of value.

More changes to come is my guess. Looking at that list, my guess is Pock could be traded? Maybe Mara?

Why the hell would they deal Hollweg to carry 8 or 9 defenseman?

We're moving a defenseman. End of story. Unless they plan on losing Hutchinson on waivers.

Dont know much about Hutch.

Looks like hes never played a full NHL season, played half of one last year.

Maybe some Carolina fans can clue us in on him. Was he coming on and going to play the whole year before he had wrist surgery scheduled for April from a February injury??

I hope Stall gets to play if hes ready this year though. Another move coming?

IMO he is not defensive enough to be the best 3rd line center in the game. Your checking line should be your shut down line.

And even if he is, isn't it better to finally have a true #1 center in Gomez and the best 2nd line center in the game in Drury??

I honestly am thinking, don't sign anyone else for the third line center spot, let Dubinsky take his shot, we have other guys who can fill in that role if necessary (Avery).

Hutchinson is also an offensive defenseman, so maybe this is bye bye Mara (would be pissed if it meant that)?

I also worry a bit at how drastic a shakeup this offseason might result in, but I think the Rangers are positioning themselves for a run this year and to be competitive in future years.

This might be Immonens chance (Unless they have plans for Anisimov)...

Hopefully it's Dubinsky's chance.
