Phil/Pho Trade Proposal

Coyotes:
Gauthier

Flyers:
Kevyn Adams
2009 2nd Rd Pick

Allows the Flyers to move Umberger while getting a gritty 4th line centre and picking up some cap space...Phoenix gets some familiar reasonably priced defensive help given their rumours of moving Morris and potentially Jovocop

Thoughts?

Flyers should inquire on the cost of Doan - I would do Carter and Hatcher for Doan and Adams......

You'd trade a 22 year old potential first line center for a 30 year old second line (on a team that's not Phoenix) right wing!?

i would do the original offer...it fills obvious need for 4th line center...while dumping goats salary...

i don't know adams salary but it is probably reasonable...did he have a problem in carolina because of playing 4th line minutes/fighting w/ teammates??

According to the NHLPA website, Adams makes $650K.

There is no way that Phoenix would trade a $650K salary for a $2.1M salary.

I believe they put him on waivers just before July 1st.....They also need to take on salary to meet the floor - I think Adams is a good match for our fourth line

I would be fine with that, althought not sure they give us the 2nd round pick if picking up salary. Also, not sure that Phoenix needs a defensman as they have plenty. In theory, it makes sense though, just might be the wrong team.

Phoenix needs salaries just to reach the league minimum payroll if they trade Jovo.

It's actually not a bad idea form the Flyers perspective. I am not positive about the Coyotes defensive situation but if they do move Jovo like they have been talking about I could see them 1) wanting a dman (depending on Jovo's return) and 2) more salary to reach the floor.

However I don't think we would be able to get a 2nd rounder out of it. Maybe a 3rd. And it all depends if Adams is comfortable being nothing more then the 4th line center.

Research shows that the Coyotes just re-signed Doan about 4 months ago. Why would they even entertain that thought?

i don't hear a lot about doan, but i'd trade gauthier back to phoenix for adams in a heartbeat, especially if phoenix threw in a draft pick. no brainer.

Phoenix could use a D it looks like...

Michalek, Jovo, Ballard, Boynton, Morris are on the roster with Roche as the only other D listed on their site as well as no stand outs (IMO) listed as "future Coyotes".

I don't think we'd get a 2nd rounder out of the deal but I'd take what we could get. Then again if we are giving up Gauthier for a 4th line C we might be able to be a little more picky than K.Adams.

Adams played 4th line the whole season on the Stanley Cup team behind Staal, Brind'Amour, and Cullen. As far as I know, he was a great teammate. I never heard any rumblings of problems.

I like Goat, but there is no way he brings both Adams a nd a second. In fact I doubt he brings a second even up. If they would go for Goat for a second even up, I'd do thatjust to clear salary space. I think we might end up moving him for a third, even though he is worth more, the cap space is real important (especially for injury replacements or a leter trade -deadline trade?).
