2 More

1. Tomas Kloucek, who was ruined by injuries and understandibly shipped out.
http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/...33&hubname=nhl

2. Ian Lapperriere who was shipped out in probably one of the worst Ranger deals in history....I hate you Neil Smith!
http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/...=nhl-avalanche

Make it 3.

3. Mattias Norstrom, who was shipped out in probably one of the worst Ranger deals in history....I hate you Neil Smith! Did I just repeat myself?
http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/...name=nhl-stars

My all time favorite is still Esa Tikkannen. Who else has the guts to try to kiss some one out on the ice?!

Ortmeyer will be forgotten just like Grosek, Green, Toms and other nearly useless players we've had in the last five years. A lot of character, yes. But I'm still surprised he's in the NHL.

Dagoon beat me to it but McPhee was an instant fan favorite, along with PJ Stock. Killed me watching him play for the Bruins. Another guy i Liked was Troy Mallette. If for nothing else then for the time he demolished "Super" Mario in front of the net, sparking a brawl. The same cross check Adam Graves took 15 times a game folded Mario like a chair.

Definitely Tikkanen and Ulfie for me.

And only because of his name... I liked Per Djoos.

I'm not a big Ortmeyer fan but I wouldn't put him in the same catagory as Grosek. His problem was he didn't play hard. If you could put Ortmeyer's heart in Grosek, Grosek would have been a star.

Definately George McPhee. I remember him kicking Dave Browns ass once. Dave Brown! I loved guys like Nilan, Broten, Poeschek (any of you guys remember a game against the Pens. Rangers down 4-0. Poeschek corners some guy taking runs at players, can't remember his name who wanted no part in a fight. Then Poeschek proceeds to pummel the dude. Rangers came back after that to win 5-4.)

How bout Larry Melnyk? talk about heart and soul!

You put Orts heart in that waste and he would have been Cam Neely

My top 10 gritty players that are or played for the Rangers:

1. Sean Avery - I was excited when the Rangers got him.
2. Todd Harvey - only if he stayed healthy, Im shocked he retired at a young age of 31.
3. Darren Langdon
4. PJ Stock - Another player who retired at a young age.
5. Jason Strudwick - he dont have alot of skill but sticks up for teammates
6. Dan Cloutier - Im shocked no one mentioned him, yea he may not be a great goalie but he is fun to watch.
7. Tie Domi - Very underrated player
8. Matthew Barnaby - will fight anyone anywhere
9. Steve McKenna - he was ok, at least he tried to fight, too bad he fell down everytime.
10. Chris Simon - good tough guy with skill, too bad he goes nuts sometimes.

One of my favorite McPhee scraps was in the 85/86 playoffs vs the Flyers. Game 3 at The Garden, Flyers were up by 2 or 3 goals at the time,I think it was near the end of the 2nd period at center ice and McPhee destroyed Tocchet. That scrap turned the game and the series around as the Rangers rattled off three straight capped by a Jim Weimer goal. The Rangers went on to win that series, beat the Caps to get to the Conference finals, where they were beat in 5 games by the Habs.

Larry Melnyk was a tough customer, but in that same Flyers series in 85/86 I remember him getting a severe beating from Dave Richter in game two. I recall watching that and praying that someone would jump in to save the poor guy.

I totally forgot about PJ. I used to love that scrapply little fella. Boy he never quit, could you imagine if he was 6-3.
I agree with Cloutier too. I like goalies who can and will fight with people in the crease. Problem is, he doesn't stop enough pucks so he's not too liked.

I remember exactly what he said to (we just got our 1st VCR and I watched the replay of it a million times). Beck : "F you, you *******, you chicken **** *******, I'll let George kick your ass."
That was classic
