Now that Phoenix has signed David Aebischer, my thinking is that LeNeveu will be dealt.
Any interest by Rangers fans to acquire him as Lundqvist's backup?
Just as an aside Benoit Allaire was the Coyotes goalie coach in David's rookie season and David's game showed tremendous improvement over the course of the season.
Except that LeNeveu has a much greater upside than Valiquette. He still has the potential to be a very good NHL goaltender.
Valiquette is not an NHL goaltender, thus the reason why he has only played 12 career NHL games.
The Ranges have Montoya. They drafted a goalie (LaFluer) in the second round. And their #1 goalie is 25. I don't the Rangers care what the upside of their backup goalie is. They want a guy who can paly 2-18 games this season and give the team a chance to win when he plays.
And it seems to me the Yotes think for highly of LeNeveu that they went out and signed David Aebischer.

For your sake let's hope that Lundvist doesn't go down with injury, b/c Valiquette isn't going to take the Rangers anywhere but the bottom of the standings.

Then we'll see you down there.
Sorry, but David LeNeveu won't make me sleep any easier at night. If Lundqvist goes down with an injury, David LeNeveu won't make a difference.

Isnt that the case when most teams lose thier starting goalie?
Leneveau isnt a bad goalie, but goaltending is the last thing we need right now.

Same goes for the Devils, Penguins, Carolina, Vancouver, Stars, Ottawa ... the list goes on and on.
There are some veteran goaltenders who can play 20-25 games still available as free agents who the Rangers could sign on the cheap such as Phoenix did with Aebischer

but the question is will those guys be willing to sign cheap so we can fit them under the cap and they are willing to sit on the bench all year figuring that lundqvist will likely play close to 70 games again...there are guys that would be big upgrades over valley in terms of insurance but there is also that risk that they will start to complain when they don't play for 2 straight months.
