But then again, Whitney and Visnovsky (he looked pretty good against Ottawa) are guys we could target in the off-season. They would help now, but I'm not sure the Islanders are willing to let go of the season yet and I'm not sure that moving assets for either of them is worth it.

I dunno...I feel like with our system, goaltending and drive we are still a threat to make the playoffs. Our chances would be increased drastically if we could add a young top 6 forward and a puck moving defenceman. Why couldn't Schultz have just signed here? That putz. He will regret that decision in a few years if he doesn't already.

My targets would be Visnovsky and Green...but I get the feeling that we aren't really going to be making any big moves. Green would look so good in Ottawa though.
Wouldn't Green cost too much?

Word on Whitney is the foot surgery has taken a heavy toll on his mobility.

I think it depends on what you consider too much. I would send the same package to Washington for Green that I would for O'Reilly. Zibanejad + Wierchioch + 3rd 2012. I'm not sure if it would be enough, but it would be enough to make them stop and think about it.

Green would be a huge asset for Ottawa, and I think he would flourish under this system and next year especially when playing behind Karlsson. Could you imagine a top 4 of Methot - Karlsson and then Cowen - Green? Best top 4 in the league IMO.

Anyway pointless to talk about because it will never happen. Sometimes it's nice to dream. That said a PMD would be nice to get this season as someone who can help now and replace Gonchar next year. I just don't think there are many available that fit. Yannick Weber might not be a terrible option to give a chance to.

It was "hockey insider" and he's not really credible. Take it with a grain of salt but this is posted on his site...there haven't been any updates since:

***Update February 20 10PM ET: Add Sens on list of teams in BIG TIME on O’Reilly. Names that I’m hearing are on Avs wish list Smith, Zibanejad, Silfverberg.
He also said that Florida could be starting a firesale. I would take Campbell in a second for this team.

Sdao would at the very least have to get a few games in Bingo and prove he's better than Claesson and Boro. And this is all assuming he doesn't want to wait before signing so he can finish his degree at an Ivy league school. He's not exactly a guy who has a guaranteed future in hockey.

He's probably not the level of prospect you're making him out to be.
I think he has a very good chance of getting a game or two. The organization is extremely high on him.

It wouldn't surprise me but it depends on where we are in a month or two. If the ship is sinking, sure. But if we're in a tight playoff race it would be a lot more difficult. Claesson deserves a call up before him as well. Plus, Binghamton could use him in their current situation.
