Pronger with anyone is an epic pairing

He was done either way. Jim Rutherford made a comment during the summer to the effect that Spacek had called about renewing a contract but the team was keeping its options open. Then Rutherford turned around and signed Joe Corvo. I mean, c'mon.

Pity he had problems staying healthy late in his career. Pretty solid dman when he actually was.

This is the list of definite notable retirees I have:
Laperriere
Lidstrom
Moreau
Staios
Hagman (not coming back from Europe)
Pahlsson (not coming back from Europe)
Madden
Kostitsyn Andrei (probably not coming back from Europe)
Spacek

List of almost sure they'll retire:
Roloson
Savard though maybe not this season
Pronger though maybe not this season

Spacek started his career the year the NHL started measuring real time stats like TOI. His avg TOI was 21:19 over 13 seasons so not bad at all.

had you not traded him we would not be stuck with kabarle

lol in all seriousness, while he was at the tail end of his career with the habs, the man was extremely likeable and a good leader

Thanks for helping us to the finals in '06 Jaro! I honestly think he paired with Pronger better than anyone else has. Those 2 had instant chemistry.

Andy Sutton is all but done as well so is Khabibulin. They both got hurt during the offseason. Sutton was probably fist fighting a rhino and Bulin probably fell down some stairs after some Russian Potato Water.

Spacek was a good guy and still holds the CBJ record for most points in a season by a defenseman. Sure, he had brainfarts every so often, but he always tried hard and left it all on the ice. Best of luck in the future

Spacek was always a decent player. All the best to him in retirement.
