So I don't see much of a difference.
And you know this how?

With a healthy Johansen from the 2nd on last game it might be 3-1 Preds in the series.

With what-could-have-been scenarios, every team might be 16-0.

Were you not the one who first posted the "what-could-have-been" scenario????

Was the surgery to remove Kesler's stick? Well, now there will be an asterisk next to whoever wins the cup.

Wow... possible if he didn't have this emergency surgery, he could have LOST HIS LIMB PERMANENTLY!!

That's why compartment syndrome was the most oft mentioned possibility when we found out that Johansen needed emergency surgery on his thigh.

It's crazy serious.

I think folks want to find the one play that caused his injury. More than likely what you see there is the hit that was the final straw that made the injury obvious.

Is that confirmed? But yes, Compartment Syndrome acutely is limb threatening. Usually, it's post traumatic cases (eg. femur fracture), but crush injuries and other minor injuries can lead to it as well. Our lower body has compartments: anterior, posterior and lateral. To put it in very simple terms: ischemia happens, arteriovenous pressure decreases, arterial supply decreased, venous drainage blocked --> (boom!) pressure rises in the compartment --> very high risk of muscle infarction and tissue necrosis.

Good on the medical staff for recognizing it, and getting it surgically treated (fasciotomy).

[I don't know why I typed all that out. Ignore me. It was a good review for MSK portion of my exam next Friday.]

the clip that I saw with manson is here
http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/r...-thigh-injury/

I don't see how it could be from anything other than that 1 single incident. He was struggling to even skate after it

I thought that would be the end of the Predators, who were my favourite to represent the West. Anaheim is worse than I thought however, losing 3-1 tonight. So perhaps the Predators can advance to the Cup Final, but they won't have a chance against Pittsburgh now, unless the Penguins get banged up too. Sad.

Anything that could cause a gnarly bruise could probably be the culprit here. Assuming a hematoma was the cause.

His response after connecting with Manson there suggests that might have been it. He probably just thought it was something he could play through, and full props to him because he was in obvious discomfort and still giving it a go.

With the way the Pens are currently playing, Preds could beat them. This also isn't the same Pens team from last year's playoffs.

Pens still need to get past Ottawa, not a sure thing by any means.

Last I checked, the ECF is tied 2-2.

Everyone on the Pens is one hit away from a concussion. We average more than one concussion per series at this point. Plus Letang is out until next year, and then Schultz, Hornqvist, and Rust are all big question marks.
