Post Game Talk: Game 2 playoffs Wings vs Preds 3-2

So our 1st playoff win and on the raod. Good.

Honestly, it was due to luck more than anything. But stellar goaltending from Howard and superb PK were close second and third.

Well he did post it 8 hours after the game ended, I think that's enough of a cushion to make it not count as a spoiler...

As far as the game, I voted for White, Emmerton, Howard, Bert, and Miller. Honorable mentions to Cleary and ****box for playing surprisingly well.

I said it in the GDT - the key to this series will be scoring first. If the Wings can do that, they'll be in good shape. The Preds are built to play with a lead and are not well-equipped to play from behind. That's not to say they're incapable of winning if the Wings get a lead on them, but it's much harder for them to do so than a team like Chicago or Vancouver that has more firepower. And they're much better at protecting leads than most teams.

Howard, White, and Ericsson impressed me the most. I thought Zetterberg and Kronwall had strong games too but they're not on the list.

I'm not sure, I think a lot of people who can't catch the game watch it the next morning or whenever they can the next day. Personally I avoid the board entirely when I am forced to PVR....

Yeah that's kind of the way I was looking at it - if it's 8 hours after the game ends and you haven't watched it yet, what do you expect you'll be reading on the board that ISN'T going to spoil it for you? Especially in the playoffs - there are random chatty threads in the regular season that don't deal with recent games but in the playoffs, pretty much all we're talking about is the last game.

You have to go game by game. If you're looking for them by player in game log fashion, I'm not sure. Hockeyreference might have them somewhere. The main reason why the stars threads are delayed a bit after each game all year is because I'm waiting for Mlive's box score to go final, because it doesn't show the expanded stats or the in-house 3 stars until that point. Sometimes there's a pretty long lag and I give up.

That being said, I like the job 14ari13 is doing with them - I could get used to this.

I thought the PK was going to be a huge factor and it kept them in Game 1 and helped them win Game 2. Howard was rock solid as well...looks much more composed than Rinne through two games. The Wings are doing the little things well.

The good

-PK has been lights out. Well done.
-Emmerton/Nyqvist don't look out of element.
-Howard has been amazing, even in the loss.
-Cleary amazes with his knee being so bad.
-Z man has been good everytime he's on the ice.
-Nice offence from the D corps.

The bad

-Datsyuk's not himself. Possible injury.
-PP is useless. Not that we get PPs anyways. Why are we always at the short end of the stick in this category the last few seasons? We go from one of the least penalized in the RS to one of the most in the POs.
-Nash is outcycling us.
-Some of our D like Ericsson can't clear a puck.
Need more offensive effort from Franzen and Flip. Not involved in this series thus far offensively.
