It didn't seem that boring... I was there with dad and dad got excited for the littlest of things.

seems like he's fine at ES defense.

I don't like his contract - I'll give you that but doing fine from what I can tell.
No, Burish is not doing fine. He has an on-ice Corsi of -20.47. I really can't explain how horrific that is. As you probably know, Corsi is the total shot differential (goals/saves/misses/blocks) displayed as relative to 60 minutes of ice time. The Sharks have 5 regular forwards with negative Corsi rates, but only three that are really being outplayed heavily. No one is nearly as terrible as Burish and Desjardins (-20.48, -17.42). So, the two forwards on the team that play the least minutes have given up scoring chances at the highest rates. Don't look at GF/GA as it doesn't factor in anything but the goalie's ability to stop the puck. Burish is being dominated every time he steps on the ice. His shots allowed/60 on the ice is 31.9 (the worst on the team). When he is off the ice, the shots allowed/60 is 25.2. He is absolutely brutal and his presence on the ice would have probably sunk this team's playoff hopes already had Antti Niemi not performed like a superhuman whenever Burish was on the ice. For god's sake, Burish' on-ice save percentage is an incredible 959. Niemi is literally the sole reason that Burish' GA/60 ranks as #2 on the team and not dead effin last. Seriously, a Corsi of -20.47!?!? That is mind-numbing. Even Michael Handzus isn't being outplayed that badly. Handzus' Corsi is -9.88. But unfortunately for him, Niemi isn't quite as impressive when he is on the ice. Only (lol) 939 when Handzus is on the ice.

Honestly, if it weren't for Niemi being a mother****ing stone wall whenever Burish, Desjardins, Murray, Handzus, or Galiardi was on the ice in the last two months, the Sharks would be completely out of the playoff race. Considering how good Thornton, Marleau, Couture, Pavelski, and Havlat have been, that is ridiculous. If the Sharks had axed just two of those first 5 from the lineup (Murray and Burish to be specific) a month ago, when it became clear that they were killing the team, they probably would be hanging around Chicago in the standings. If they had axed three (Handzus), they definitely would have been a serious suitor for Jarome Iginla. Considering the crap the Penguins gave up for him, it wouldn't have been tough to beat their offer. And if the Sharks had been up near the top of the West, I am positive that Iginla would have OK'ed a trade here. Hell, with Jay Feaster on the other side, DW could have pulled off some Burish+Galiardi+1st crap deal. Or promise not to claim whatever RFA Feaster tries to sign to an offer sheet while he is playing on another continent.

I have a feeling the Sharks are still going to trade Clowe. Wilson just won't want to take the risk of letting him walk for nothing when he desperately needs to refill the cabinet, and Clowe is just not having that big an impact on the team to be worth keeping. Plus, if he gets a guy like Koko or Leblanc who can play in the NHL now and is probably a better fit on the 3rd line than Clowe is.

The weak points on the team right now I see are: Burish & Handzus (who both need to be gone) and Desjardins. Desi just isn't clicking this year at all, I thought it was just his line mates, but Sheppard and Gomez haven't helped him in the slightest.

The Sharks might want to think about finding a 4th line winger if they are really going to try to contend.

I hope you're right on Clowe but that might not happen if they go into April 3rd with a winning streak. If they can find homes for Handzus and Burish then pick up another forward, that's fine but it's not make or break as long as they maintain three good lines like they have.

Desi not working isn't a surprise. He's a limited player in skill but is quick and agitates. He's worth keeping until someone offers something for him or until he hits UFA. He should remain cheap.

Burish has a history of having the goaltender post a low save percentage whilst he is on the ice. Is this not true?

Some teams track that stat. I think sj is one of them...

Still say that Glencross would be a great addition, even at 30.

First 7 minutes was fantastic. Not a single whistle.

I must say I love the sound of silenced Red Wings "fans" in the Shark Tank.

Worrying about who's gonna fight a 4th liner or 6th defenseman is pretty low on my list of concerns

Short sighted response.....it's not always about who is going to fight, it's about who on the team acts as a deterrent on the ice to other teams freely taking runs at our skill players.

Some of the stats blogs out there occasionally comment on that stat when it's unusually high or low for a particular player but it's generally regarded as a luck number.

It can be useful to look at when checking to see if a d-man is undervalued or overvalued because of unusual on/off-ice save %.

The only stat TMac ever mentions is scoring chances and DW has said that they do use advanced statistics to evaluate players but as far as I know he's never mentioned any specifics.

Troll is definitely not the right word. Seriously it has no meaning at this point.

Trolling is not posting a clip of you doing something impressive. If Cheechoo posted the video montage of his 56 goal campaign, would that be "trolling?"

Well then I don't know what to call it. I found it funny that Datsyuk didn't respond directly to Logans tweet, thats all.

Anyone notice Jumbo's heavy stick at work last night? Maybe confirmation bias but people whack and hack at it and can't move it, then he just hurls that puck over to burns through a stick check, bounces off the d-man and still gets to burns.
