I love Marchand. Hell, I'm probably one of the few people in Calgary that has a Marchand jersey. But I'd be pretty hard up to just say that Marchand flat out a better player than Glencross. Both are equally valuable and I understand you're reasoning but Glencross was on pace for 30+ last year. That's tough to pass up, even with Marchand being an awesome 25-25-50 guy.
To reiterate, I understand from a logical standpoint your concerns, but I still think that Glencross would beat him out in the long run. Not to say that I think Boston should make the trade either. Khokhlachev impressed me a lot at the Juniors this year.

it may be difficult to value Marchand... but he's a pure gamebreaker. he's now 24, career +56, steady improvement year over year. 19 points in 25 playoff games as a rookie including 2 goals (yes one was an empty netter) and an assist in game 7. When Marchand gets to 30, I would imagine he has accomplished a lot more than Glencross, if not already.
I do watch enough flames hockey to know that Glencross is the type of guy you would want in your lineup. But Marchand worked his way into the top 6 and has more than earned his stay there, has great chemistry with his linemates. also, on the 'on pace for 30'... marchand was on pace for 30 last year too if not for suspensions.
between the two of them, i'd say marchand has already played a crucial role in delivering what every hockey fan wants their team to achieve. as a bruins fan, would not want to swap those players at all.
finally, the cup team had ryder on the 3rd line, who went on to score 35 last year in dallas. but with the bruins, the 3rd line was the most appropriate spot for him.
