Agreed for the most part. Kesler is especially not playing wing so we can fit Schroeder in as an undersized rookie who is largely not that effective. And honestly, i don't think Schroeder ever becomes the sort of player you move Kesler to the wing for.
In an ideal world though...Kesler is a winger. His game is perfect for the wing. But the calibre of Center we'd have to bring in to make that an upgrade...we're essentially talking about a team with 3 nearly #1Cs, in Henrik/Kesler/the guy who bumps Kesler.
If we were to acquire a guy like Paul Stastny where there have been rumblings that he might be the guy to go in Colorado...i'd say that's the bottom-end of players you move Kesler to the Wing for...and get a net gain in effectiveness. And that's not likely to happen.
Maybe you try it with someone of a Ribeiro/Roy calibre...but even that's a tough sell given what Kesler brings on the defensive side of the puck at center ice.
Not Schroeder...who can barely hold down a job as #2C right now with Kesler injured and Andrew Ebbett as the next best thing.
