It's possible being the Top seed but I think SC won the season series over Gwinnett so they may have a real shot to upset, this format aides any potential upset with the lower seed getting 1st 2 at home.

If Wheeling pulls the upset and Elmira defeats Reading, Wheeling would be the 6th seed and lower than SC or Gwinnett so Elmira should have to face them. Anyway, that is down the road. too much playoff hockey in between. Too mnay unpredictable things will occur to look that far ahead.

Edit: My bad. I was thinking Florida and Greensville. SC would be the lower seed. I can be dense at time.
