You think Bertuzzi planned on sucker punching him? Fight? Yes I'd agree he planned on fighting Moore. Sucker punching? Probably not as Moore had just declined the invitation to fightand an emotional Bertuzzi sucker punched him not knowing how else to get payback.

Nothing to do with sucker punching. We're talking about retaliation here. And so were you.
Ryan White is a punk. He never fights anyone who can actually fight, but is the first to jump in and sucker punch or challenge someone who doesn't fight. The only time I've seen him actually fight someone who can throw down was against Mike Brown and he got destroyed.
20 games suspension + a team fine says it's an issue.
For what he did. But players plan to fight others all the time. Perfectly acceptable. Thornton got nothing for his obvious planned retaliation on Cooke.
I liked the sticking up for Gorges bit, but the way he went about it was really stupid. I think if you keep your gloves on and shove him around into the glass it would have been much better. Then White gets a 4 for roughing, Fleischmann gets a 2 for roughing, and the Panthers only have a 2 minute PP. If Florida scores on that PP they get back into the game and I don't think that's a good price to pay to "send a message". I thought it was overall a pretty stupid thing for White to do.
It was a huge overreaction by white no need for that./ I am a firm believer that if you instigate something that way you should be tossed from the game.

Not for a fight that was premeditated. For a sucker punch that was not premeditated. Therefore his actions were based on emotion. And as I've read that is okay.

Nice backpedaling away from the original point being made by the guy you quoted. If backwards cycling was in the Olympics, you would have won GOLD!!!!!!
As for jumping, it really doesn't have a place in hockey. It just looks bad for the sport regardless of the reason for it.

Boarding and other cheep shots look great on the league though right?
What is with everyone saying he should have just face washed him or shoved him around a little? You think after the game Gorges will come up to him in the dressing room and say "Hey man, thanks for laying down that awesome face wash. That must have been briefly uncomfortable, he definitely learned not to mess with us!"
White responded the right way and even if it does nothing to prevent future cheep shots it will go a long way to building a good climate in the dressing room.

Can't find details about the suspension but I thought that because the attack was premeditated it added to the length of the suspension. And the team's fine.

You actually think Bertuzzi went into that game that night thinking "**** this guy I'm gonna sucker punch him"? What I remember is Steve Moore fighting earlier in the game and then late in the game Bertuzzi wanted to fight Moore. Moore declined and Bertuzzi wasn't happy with that and took thinks in his own hands. A fight being premeditated of course. Everyone knew Moore would have to fight someone that game. And he did, Bertuzzi wanted his own shot at Moore but Moore thought he did what he had to. Saying Bertuzzi planned on sucker punching Steve Moore before that shift started is ridiculous. If you go back and watch Bertuzzi gave Moore plenty of opportunity to drop the gloves but he didn't. A fight was premeditated yeah, not the sucker punch.

17 minutes left in the 3rd period is not the time to take 5 minute penalties. The Panthers score on that PP and they're down 4-2 with 12+ minutes to play. What White did was stupid and reckless, could really have cost the team, and he's lucky it didn't.

No not at all what I said (by attack I meant inciting to fight). What I've been saying is the fact that the premeditated aggression took the turn it did (Moore's injury) really didn't help Bertuzzi's cause. He premeditated to make Moore's pay for his previous actions, whether Moore wanted or not.
