This.
He wanted to stay with the team so bad and he was fearing he would lose his job that he did something incredibly stupid.

Instead of sitting out for a couple of games with a mild concussion he tried to play through it and went down for 3! whole weeks afterwards with severe symptoms - which may have cost him much more than admitting he was just human like anybody else.

And now some people (not you) call him a warrior because of it

Bourdon was a fool. With that being said, you can bet that this organization is going to look after him after he did this. He's going to get rewarded.

I also think this is a learning experience for Bourdon and you can bet that he's been informed to NEVER pull this stunt again or they'll ship him off to the KHL where no one will see or ever hear from him again.

400 employees and 400 contractors work for me. We have not had an OSHA recordable injury in nearly 2 years. If someone who worked for me put his health in jeopardy like this, i would suspend him for a week.

And technically the Flyers management is to blame. They would be held liable in a court if this were to go to trial. They have a demonstrated history of players fealing intimadated to divulge injuries. I could never get away with my employees acting the way Flyers employees do when they are at risk. I would have the book thrown at me - lose my job and be resposable for civil damages. Dumbfounding that an organization that should know better gets away with this. It's not the players fault, it is managements fault. Theae folks are people not ancient Roman gladiators.

It's not the first or the last time someone will play through a concussion. The circumstances just made it so that this one became public because he took time off when he was sent down. I can guarantee he's not the first player that had played through concussion symptoms for the Flyers this year.

It doesn't mean it's a good idea but these guys, especially fringe NHL players will do anything to remain on a team. I've played through concussions before and they can go away on their own if they aren't severe and you avoid big hits for a few weeks.

Remember, it's a very recent trend to keep players out for extended periods of time because of concussions. It used to be, you got your "bell rung", you missed a few shifts, didnt practice for a few days and would not miss a game. Obviously the approach taken now is the right one but not every player that had had a concussion turns into a Lindros/Pronger type situation. I'd be shocked if more than 5% of the NHL hasnt had a concussion at some point in their life.
