Poor Patenaude. People base his reputation off one trade (albeit the worst trade in Moose history and caused this franchise to go in the ******* for 4 years) but he was a decent GM really lol.
But I agree. Cam is committed to a plan and it's panned out. He may break the bank to acquire an impact player or two, but he'll stay within line.
If you think that single trade is what put us in the toilet for that long you're sadly mistaken.
It was the mismanagement of assets and emptying of the cupboards for years that led us to that point. In 08-09 we literally had a team of no-names, mostly barely in-shape 19 year olds who never had the talent to play in the Q. Our team was so bad we had to convince NED O'BRIEN to come play for us.
We let Cabana, Brine, Carnegie, MacDonald all go for nothing. Never re-stock or re tool. Also picked a Ben MacAskill in the first round.
Marchand was just the cherry on the **** pie. Its the most bright red and easily identifiable thing to point at so that's why people do.
Im new to the forums and not really sure how to post this link directly onto the board, but from Willy Palovs twitter saying that Halifax may be acquiring Stefan Fournier from Victoriaville for 2 draft picks (3rd and 8th round).
Hello
Greetings from the UK.
Huge fan of the Prosects, especially interested in the Euros, and one of my fave players is Martin Frk.
Posted on here before about him, and always baffled as to why the scouts always say his skating is "spotty" , poor fitness etc, yet every time i see any footage of him, he always looks like hes flying!
(Granted, I can only see the youtube clips/ webiste highlights etc)
Just looking at the results from the combine, and see that he done very very well on the VO2 MAX TEST: Finishing 6th.! http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=80653
Surely any fitness flaws would have been exposed in this test?
Regarding Euro spots, will the Mooseheads have an open spot in the upcoming Import Draft?
“Whatever’s good for the franchise, we’ll certainly take a look at, but Ben Duffy’s not on the market,” Savard said on Wednesday. “We haven’t put anything on the market.”
I think I'll go with what Savard says, rather than what the random poster insists he heard from someone.
Also, that article has a link to a story that claims the Moose are about to acquire Stefan Fournier.

If Konrad Abeltshauser doesn't return, yes we'll have an open spot to pick at 37th overall. But I hope he returns if possible.
Frk was in great shape at the beginning of the year, then he got concussed. That effed up his conditioning and his skating is ok really. I think the NHL team that drafts him will put him on a good diet/workout to get him back into the shape he was last August.
San Jose has Abeltshauser signed, he's going to be an over-ager at the junior level next season, which means he can play in the AHL. He's playing in Worcester next season. That's as guaranteed as it can be. IF (huge if) he was sent back to junior as an over-ager, it would still use up a year of his contract and considering the depth in San Jose's minor league, there's no real point for a move like that unless the Sharks were extremely disappointed with his development, which doesn't jive with the fact that they signed him to a contract in the first place.
Sharks thinking about sending Abeltshauser back to the Mooseheads for his over-age season.
Really didn't see that coming. The Sharks are pretty much devoid of prospects, but they do seem to have a number of young defensemen in the AHL already. Might be a bit of a logjam in Worcester for next year.
Certainly makes this off-season more interesting. I was fully expecting to see us go after someone in the import draft who could step in and immediately contribute at a high level, but it's not like the Sharks will decide whether to send Abeltshauser back to us before the draft.
The Fournier trade is now official (3rd+8th).
With the likely return of Abeltshauser, that means two OA spots are spoken for.
Gillard seems likely to get the last one, so unfortunately Cuzner and Hannay seem like they'll fall victim to the numbers game (along with Côté).
Should be interesting to see what they do with the import pick.
I know they can pick another kid even though Abeltshauser is expected back and make the decision at a later time, but you'd think they could get something decent for it.
I still think they need to add an additional defenseman and adding one now would pretty much allow them to roll the same team for the whole season and avoid overpaying at the deadline.
CH_WillyPalov It looks like defenceman Sawyer Hannay is no longer in Halifax overage picture. Signed with Salzburg Red Bull for next season. Leaves Sunday
CH_WillyPalov Salzburg is the same team Alex Grenier signed with. That means overage candidates are now: Abeltshauser, Fournier, Gillard, Cuzner, Cote.

We have 37th which I expect them to use as the most we could trade that pick for would be a late round pick in the midget draft. So we could take someone in case KA doesn't return (unlikely)

They've traded the Import pick for Sherbrooke's 2013 Import pick.
Good trade unless Abeltshauser ends up not returning.
It could be a top 10 selection.
