“That’s my philosophy,” Julien said of players’ responsibility to not fake injury in order to draw a penalty. “I’m not going to say one of our players would never embellish, because that would be hypocritical. But I’m going to tell you right now that after it’s done, he would hear from me that I don’t want embellishment on our hockey club. Our organization doesn’t want embellishment from our hockey club. If we keep the guys accountable to that, if they do it and you keep them accountable, then we’re helping clean up the game, and I think everybody has to take that approach.”

We should all continue to ignore this and just bicker endlessly.

Blah, blah, blah, blah.
We heard him preach this same crap while his team dived all over the ice (with ours) in the 2011 playoffs.
There are several instances of Marchand, Thornton diving from last year as well so clearly that "admonishing" hasn't stuck very well.
But hey, continue living in the Boston Bruins Double Standard Bonanza. It's alive and kickin'.
"Helping clean up the game" - Does this guy listen to himself? What a ****ing joke. We may have players that embellish but you sure as hell don't see AV preaching about 'cleaning up the game' while continuing to employ those same players.

He didn't say anything like that during the 2011 playoffs and Marchand is the only guy that seems to not be listening and even now this season he has yet to dive. If you can't keep your grudges out of it you shouldn't be in this thread.

He absolutely did say that stuff during the playoffs. During the Canucks series, actually. I remember it well.
It's not a grudge either, I don't like the fact that Boston feels they are allowed to have this holier-than-thou image when they have a team which plays nothing like that.
Also, there are plenty of ways the game gets embarrassed beyond diving, and plenty of Bruins engage in those tactics as well.
Again, I'm not saying my team doesn't have players that do that ****, that would be hypocritical. Such as preaching against it in the press.
Anyways. Agree to disagree.
Personally for me, Juliens' comments are just typical of his whining self.

I don't recall such comments. If you can find some I'll happily eat some crow. I think Julien was just frustrated about the loss, but I guess if AV or Therrien had said it I would view it as whining because they are rival teams, so I can see why you feel that way.
I could name 26 other teams that dive. The hypocrisy and homerism amongst hockey fans is mind boggling.
Diving is absolutely pathetic and needs to be eliminated from the league. They players should be fined, and then humiliated afterwards by showing replays over and over again.
I'm 39 times more pissed at Ference & Krejci for their poor play last night than at Subban & Emelin for whatever diving and rib-cracking they might have indulged in; and we lost b/c of the former, not the latter.

Claude Julien, last spring:
Quote:
“We’re not a team that will go down, and, I’ve said that many times, and start rolling on the ice for no reason.”
