Gonna have to pick this up. Especially since it's for charity.
My favorite performance was Eric Clapton. I was really impressed with how he "still has it".

If grammys had a really strong correlation to good music, you might be onto something.
clearly you've only heard Stronger and Gold Digger. Kanye, of all the mainstream artists, makes some very, very legitimate, good music that even hipsters and not rap fans can appreciate.
Musical Genius.
Most important act of the past decade and still going strong
He's one of the important musicians of the past decade. I'd argue that Radiohead, Arcade Fire, OutKast, Daft Punk, and maybe even The Strokes are definitely up there as well. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the late Amy Winehouse inspired a songstress like Adele.

I know i‘m in the minority here, but I do not understand why everyone loves Radiohead so much... I‘ve listened to a few of their albums and haven‘t heard anythat that special. Sure they have some good songs, but I think they‘re being over-rated.
And to everyone else, Kanye‘s music may not be the genre of your choice... but he should still be respected as an artist. Sure he‘s done some stupid things in his life, we all have, and he‘s learned from it. The sales and awards don‘t lie.. obviously he‘s talented in his field.. as a musician, song-writer, and producer. Billboard magazine rated him the 3rd best producer in the last decade. Rolling Stone magazine has 3 of his albums in the top-500.... and the Rolling Stones themselves have had Kanye TOUR with them.
Honestly, I think everyone needs to grow up with the bashing of musicians.. They do what they love.. don‘t like it? Don‘t pay attention. Sure, I‘ve joked around about Kanye on here, but when it comes down to it.. he‘s Kanye, i‘m just someone sitting in bed typing this all up because I can‘t sleep. And for the record, I don‘t listen to his music.. I just appreciate the industry as a whole and respect those who‘ve sacrificed and struggled in order to make it where they are.
Bought the album on iTunes today. Disappointed the "Nirvana" song isn't on there. Also disappointed that "Born to Run" didn't make the cut, I thought that was one of the best performances of the night

Did Kanye do that? I'm asking because I honestly don't know. Is he a major label creation, or did he slog it out in little clubs for years? Or something in the middle?
I don't know what to make of the Grammys. Beyonce has a dozen of them, doesn't she? and she doesn't write her songs for the most part.

She likely doesn't write the lyrics no, but I doubt many popstars do these days. But her talent as a singer and a dancer is almost unparalleled, and I would assume she likely puts in the time at the studio. I've read a few articles that have gone on to talk about her insane work ethic. Factoring all of this, she probably deserves those Grammys.

With Kanye, he started out as a producer first. He produced albums by local artists while in school, but dropped out (College Dropout) to focus on music. He spent about 4 years producing smaller artists until Jay-Z had him produce a song for him.. and then help him work on The Blueprint.
So in a way, he hasn‘t exactly “struggled“ like others have (B.I.G, Eminem).. but he did have to work his way up to where he is. I also meant for that part to be directed towards JB and 1D, who people seem to hate for no actual reason. Half the people have never listened to their music... they just decide to not like them anyways.
As for the Grammy‘s... I don‘t take the Grammy‘s too seriously. ANYONE can win a Grammy these days, you just need a catchy beat and to be trending.. And there are so many catagories.. One song could get you 4 Grammy‘s simply because it fits in different catagories.
