Good player, but not HoF worthy IMO. Really have to believe the stuff he went through in 2003 played a big part in it.
This is the official statement from the HOF that I got from SI.com

Mourning was a seven-time NBA All-Star (1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002) and a member of the Miami Heat NBA Championship team in 2006. He is a two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year (1999, 2000) and a two-time NBA All-Defensive First Team member (1999, 2000). He led the NBA in blocked shots (1998-99, 1999-2000) and blocks per game (1998-99, 1999-2000) and earned an NBA All Rookie Team recognition in 1993. The Chesapeake, Virginia native attended Georgetown University (1988-1992) and played in the NBA from 1993 until 2008 and is the all-time leader in blocks for the Miami Heat with 1,625.

Sounds like it is due to a combination of his college and pro career.

The same questions are being asked about Mitch Richmond.

Red didn't do anything wrong or against the rules when he drafted Bird.

Depends on who you ask. As a Celtics fan I have no issue with it.

There are some stories out there that suggest Red and Larry had already agreed that he'd go back to school which is why 5 teams passed on him before the Celtics took him at number 6.

My main point is that complaining about how LeBron was drafted by Cleveland makes it sound like this was the only time the draft was fixed. I then went on to point out the draft has been messed with for a long time.

Crazy enough, Red was sued by the Toronto Blue Jays when he went and drafted Danny Ainge. Fascinating case study if your into that stuff.

I know all of it. Again, Red didn't do anything wrong when he drafted Bird. People thought he was stupid for doing it.

Technically he didn't do anything wrong but clearly it irked enough people to institute a rule change the following year.

Because it was a loophole that shouldn't have existed. Every single team could've done it if they wanted to. Red was smarter than everyone else, and the NBA wised up to it.

Yes, but I just think maybe your word choice hasn't really had the right connotation.

Red was better than everyone else for decades, and by him out-smarting them they just decided to change the rule rather than deal with it.

The drafting of Ainge was another stroke of genius.

The Ainge move was ballsy and continues to pay dividends 30+ years later.

I firmly believe Danny will get in the HOF some day.

Red's best move draft wise was landing Parish and McHale at the 1980 draft.

Red's best move of all time was breaking the color barrier in the NBA.

I love the Parish and McHale deal but.......

April 30, 1965 - Boston traded C Ed Macauley and F Cliff Hagan to St. Louis for the rights to the 2nd overall pick C Bill Russell.

Bumped for potentially big news:

Rumor: Rajon Rondo reportedly "wants out" and a trade "will happen" according to Jackie MacMullan

MacMullan is really good, so I believe the story. That said, expect denials to come forth shortly. Not good for Rondo's trade value, either.

I like Rondo, but I rather lose with out him and start the future with Smart then losing with him and having Smart on the bench. Smart has same mold as a D-Rose, John Wall, and Westbrook type player. Smart has the same physical traits as these guards with height and weight.

Rondo is too desperate for acceptance amongst the games best players (because he never really got it from the big 3) to stay with us and rebuild. He wants to force his way onto a team with a superstar and put them over the top. He'd ditch us like LeBron ditched Cleveland if we let him get to free agency next year. The opportunity to resign him has probably passed he didn't get his max deal offer from us and now that he knows the cap and the max salary will go up after this season he won't take one now. But we should have just paid him so that he could always be traded for another star. I'd love to get a guy like Cousins for him and park his ass in Sac Town where he won't win a thing. Now hes got leverage and will demand to go to Houston or the Knicks or else he won't resign.

Its OK I don't know if we'd ever see the same guy we saw in the 2012 playoffs again. And in 2008 he was good but he wasn't a driving force or anything.

I mean I love Rondo but he really has only been truly elite for a pretty small portion of his career. And the current good behavior is just to offset the reputation he had as a malcontent which might have been unfair from earlier in his career but doesn't show that he is truly a team first guy.

I think the return will still be good regardless. I'd move him before the season just so Smart can take the court with less pressure on him to develop his jumper quickly and be able to focus on tenacious D and good decision making with the rock in his hand. AB will share the PG duties a little when they are on the floor togetehr so Smart can still be a scorer and get to the rim even if hes our 1st PG.

But yeah, I want something like Rondo and Kelly for Cousins that would be awesome. Irving is probably in play I am not sure I like Kyrie but I think LeBron and Love would take Rondo over him in a nanosecond.
