Those Goose Island limited run beers are pretty sought after. Nice find.

My cousin's husband bought this to Christmas Eve

Tallgrass Zombie Monkey Robust Porter. It was pretty good. Like most porters/stouts, I will have one and be done with it, but it certainly was not bad.

Heading up to the cabin on New Year's Day. Gonna stop on the way up and grab some more of that Double IPA from New Glarus.

When I decided to go up, and thought to stop at the liquor store on my way up, I paused and thought, "Oh wait, that's New Years Day, I wonder if the liquor stores will be open." and then I thought "Uuh, it's Wisconsin, the liquor stores are ALWAYS open!"

Not too far from Hayward. About 30-45 minutes W/NW. Smack dab in the middle of Siren and Spooner. Have been to Hayward many times, though! Love the huge muskie!

I am about 30 minutes the other way on HWY B and hang a right onto W and in 5 miles you're in the tiny little town!

Headed over to Bad Habit in St. Joe last night.

Tried a Chocolate Milk Stout, Peppermint Stout, and a Belgian Blonde. All were decent, but nothing really blew me away.

Interesting place - they brew their own craft soda, too. They had cream soda and lemon soda on tap.

The gal and I are sort of getting into the craft distillery scene now as well. Spent most of last Saturday at Tattersall Distilling in North East. Cool space, good drinks.

And, it's in the same building as Brickmania Toys, so on open Saturdays you can block up before you black out.

Barley John's tonight. Anyone ever had this? I believe it's a local brew.

Guy I went to high school with brews there. I've been really wanting to go check it out, on a night that he is working there.

It's in New Brighton, IIRC.

How is it?

Pretty good. They provided 4 kegs for a company event. They had a brown ale, porter, wheat, and IPA.

I tried the brown ale, which was good. I also won a growler of the porter. I'll report back whether that's any good.

Grabbed a 12-pack Magic Hat winter sampler from Lunds the other day. Got home, and one of the bottles had broken like.... months(?) previously. There was even remnants of mold in the box.

Called up Lunds, and they said I could come back the next day with the broken bottle and they'd change it out for me. I go there a fair bit (and they actually run social events for my apartment building) so I'm somewhat familiar with the guys there. I really didn't want to cause a big hassle (I guess that comes from my past life as a retail employee myself), so I pretty much just said I'd take a bottle of anything they had lying around.

Instead the assistant manager comes out with a whole new 12 pack and insisted I take it I realize that their profit margins on mass-produced beer are probably pretty good, but still... it was a really cool gesture

So anyway, all this means I will be "Now Drinking" Magic Hat for a while

(This image isn't the same samplings that I have, but the box is pretty much the same.)

This bad boy. Humulus Lupus from Panimo Hiisi. A craft brewery from Jyväskylä in Central Finland, one of the best in Finland right now. This is a thoroughbred American Double IPA: Big hops, big malty body, big tastes. Love it.

Ooh, I bet that's good. I'd want it just for the bottle!
