In previous buyouts in various leagues you can't resign a player you bought out, so i think the Wild keep Heatley. Still need his scoring, even if its declining.

Buffalo should use it on Leino, he just doesn't fit in long term

I don't think the Flames would use it on anyone. Maybe Iginla, and then sign him to a long, low caphit retirement contract and avoid the 35+ clause.

For the Flyers, I think it has to be Brygalov. While this would clearly be a short term setback, his contract, especially in a reduced maximum cap era, is just too risky for too long. After a wildly inconsistent year, an up and down playoff, a rough stint in the KHL, battles with the media here and in Russia, etc.

Bryzgalov is clearly the best option for this year in Philadelphia, but the long term risk is considerably higher now than a year ago... and even then the contract was considered an overpayment, especially in term.

I fully expect an Amnesty tag on the trade forum because of all the trades that could happen. As a Preds fan. I like the team and even if the cap were reset to 64 Million the Preds would be 10 million under it. My hope would be David Poile calls Montreal and asks for one of their players for a pick. Nashville amnesties them and then collects the pick.

The question is how much would the pick be?

"Hey, you were stupid, very, very stupid. Give me a 2nd and you won't be as stupid."

For the Panthers, it would be either Jovo or Upshall. I'd think it would be most likely Upshall since he doesnt provide the leadership Jovo does and Jovo is part of Florida's history/culture.

Do you think Nashville has the cash to do that? After paying Weber's signing bonus? It makes sense for team with actual cash to spare and nobody they want to amnesty, but I don't think budget teams have the financial assets to engage in a move like that.

I do, the original plan was to sign both Weber and Suter and go over the midpoint. Suter signing with the Wild caught everyone off kilter and saved the Preds a lot of money.

Wouldn't you rather bank the $10M you'd be spending buying out Scott Gomez for future contracts than spend it on a mid-round pick?
