Open your eyes and wake up! The roster spot opening is a gain in itself...the rest of it will play out come trade deadline time. Anyone who is buying Gillis' bs today is out to lunch. If he was sooooo concerned for Manny's safety, then why did he even let him come back this season? 66% on faceoffs.....seems like he was doing better then most players at winning faceoffs with only 1 good eye, instead of 2. It's just ironic how each season, when some player is ready to come back, another one just magically ends up on IR, whether it be Ballard one year, Sami Salo another, or now Malhotra this year.
Note: that horrible green colour makes the text almost impossible to read.
In future, I would like to ask anyone quoting that xln guy to put the text from his quotes in that colour so I don't have to see anything he posts.
Thanks.

Roster spot? We have Cam freakin' Barker clogging up one of those in the press box. Like MG would shut down Manny over him if Manny was really good to go...

I don't think you could find a player or fan who doesn't respect the hell out of Manny. Class act.
Wish the guy the best of luck and hope to continue seeing him in the organization.
Posted this on the Canucks board, doing this with one eye... incredible:
If you think about it, hasn't been a great season for the Players' Negotiation Commity. Manny injured, Darche can't find a team, Campoli in Europe, etc...
I am a fan of both Gillis and Malholtra but something smells fishy here.....
like what? mike gillis was concerned for his player's safety. what if malhotra gets hit blindsided hypothecially speaking. he cant see from his injured eye. retirement is the best way for manny and his family. he gets to spend time with.
He has not been anything close to the player he was before the injury. Ive said it for a long time in the Canucks section, he's not an NHL player outside of face off ability at this point. He has no vision on the ice, cant shoot or even get a scoring chance, and he used to produce some decent offence while being amazing on the PK and checking in general. He does not look right and there's no way they'd sit him for the year to open a roster spot if they thought he was capable of playing. Barker or Ebbett are not worth losing Malhotra if he was capable of playing.

He dealt with MM because Kesler was coming back. Kesler is in the lineup TODAY.
Try and sugar coat it all you want, it was a sleazy deal by a lawyer err GM Mike Gillis.
