NHL 14 Custom Soundtrack

I know a lot of people here play a lot of NHL games, and I bet a lot also use their own music to replace the horrible in-game soundtrack. I've done that for a while, but I kind of miss the old NHL experience where you'd get to hear a lot of cool new underground stuff and then get nostalgic when you hear it again years later.

So, I decided to make a custom soundtrack for NHL 14. Mostly stuff from 2012/13, with some older things thrown in. It spans rock, metal, alt, punk, and a bit of rap, kind of a something for everyone deal. I'm going to make a torrent file of it if anyone's interested in having a proper soundtrack of new stuff for when NHL 14 comes out.

Anyway, if anyone has songs they want to suggest I want to hear them.

As it stands:

Alice in Chains – Hollow
Alkaline Trio – I'm Only Here to Disappoint
Alter Bridge – Addicted to Pain
Anberlin – Self-Starter
Anciients – Humanist
Bad Religion – True North
Biffy Clyro – Modern Magic Formula
Bloc Party – Rachet
The Bronx – Youth Wasted
The Classic Crime – The Fight
Clutch – Earth Rocket
The Dangerous Summer – Good Things
DIIV – Doused
Dillinger Escape Plan – Nothing's Funny
Divine Fits – Would That Not Be Nice?
Dropkick Murphys – The State of Massachusetts
Foals – Providence
Foo Fighters – All My Life
Franz Ferdinand – Right Action
The Gaslight Anthem – Biloxi Parish
Interpol – Barricade
Jay-Z & Kanye West – Murder to Excellence
M83 – Reunion
Manchester Orchestra – Mighty
The Men – Animal
METZ – Get Off
Our Lady Peace – One Man Army
Refused – New Noise
Run the Jewels – Sea Legs
Senses Fail – Mi Amor
Sheepdogs – Feeling Good
The Strokes – Tap Out
Tame Impala – Elephant
TV on the Radio – DLZ
The Wonder Years – An American Religion (FSF)
Wolfmother - Joker and the Thief

I fail to see how this soundtrack is any better than the one in the game. You managed to hit 3 songs I like, which is on par with what EA does.

Usually I just throw on a few old favourites from previous NHL games. "Heroes" by David Bowie (NHL 99), "I Hear You Calling" by God (NHL 2002), "No One Knows" by the Queens of the Stone Age (NHL 2003), "Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand (NHL 2005), "Talk To Her" by Priestess (NHL 07), "Fa Fa Fa" by Datarock (NHL 08), "Anything 'Cept The Truth" by the Eagles of Death Metal and "Raccoon Eyes" by Priestess (NHL 10) have been my staples the past couple of years, with the odd Monster Magnet tune or whatever thrown in too.

I don't even especially like some of these, it's more or less just a compilation of the one or two songs from each game that I could actually tolerate, and so I'd end up listening to that over and over again to the point that I started associating it with hockey.

And I guarantee plenty you've never heard. The one in the game is 11 songs, this one is more than triple that and only going to get bigger. Feel free to suggest some songs if this is so far out of your taste range.

The NHL soundtracks right now are a grab-bag of mainstream radio-rock. I wanted to branch out a bit like they used to.

I started doing that too for 13 because I didn't want to "ruin" songs by associating them with NHL. I do miss getting a game and hearing some cool new stuff.

A lot of these songs are not my taste at all, but if I made a soundtrack that was just my favourite rock songs it'd be the most one-dimensional thing ever.

I was actually making my own soundtrack as well and got this so far.

Soundtrack (Hockey)
Asian Dub Foundation – New Way New Life
Deftones – Poltergeist
Equilibrium – Der ewige Sieg
Iced Earth – Ten Thousand Strong
In Flames – The Puzzle (Big Chocolate Remix)
David Glen Eisley – Sweet Victory
Leftfield – Song of Life (BEST NHL sounding song)
Nero – Me & You
Tame Impala - Apocalypse Dreams
Terδsbetoni – Taivas Lyo Tulta
The Black Keys –Lonely Boy
The Black Pacific – When It’s Over
The Cult – She Sells Sanctuary
Almah – Trace of Traits or Soul Alight
Beck – Solider Jane
Chevelle – Sleep Apnea
Kamelot – Rule the World
Maximum the Hormone – What’s Up People?!
The Music – Breakin’

I am into Black and Pagan/Folk metal, but those aren't really "soundtrackish" genres.

Awesome, lots of great stuff I know, and even better a lot I don't.

This would be mine from strictly 2013 songs. I haven't properly listened to much music this year so I dunno. I guess they're all rock songs though maybe the Travis one is light rock.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Let The Day Begin
White Lies - Getting Even
The National - Sea of Love
The Boxer Rebellion - Diamonds
Paramore - Now
Chapel Club - Good Together
Franz Ferdinand - Right Action
The Joy Formidable - This Ladder Is Ours
Sportfreunde Stiller - Hyne Auf Dich
Miles Kane - Give Up
Blood Red Shoes - Red River
The Strokes - All The Time
Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know
Travis - Moving
The Vaccines - Bad Mood
Foals - Inhaler
Black Angels - Don't Play With Guns

If I ever played NHL for long enough to be bothered by the soundtrack I'd probably just have it replaced with the NHL 98 soundtrack.

Someone needs to make an NHL soundtrack using ONLY songs that have been in NHL games. That would be cool. Kind of like a greatest hits.

Good list, I'll add some of those. Maybe not The National, love them but not quite an NHL-style band.
