I don't think I've ever seen a more childish reaction than that of Rangers fans when discussing the Vezina. They seem to be in disbelief that anyone would consider someone other than Hank, on the verge of tears, and incapable of forming cogent arguments as to why Quick getting consideration is so wrong. It is extremely entertaining though, and I'm loving it.
I think the ones who are out to troll/agitate tend to post in the vezina thread(s) on the main board. The rags thread on the topic have some decent opinions (and no, I don't mean just those that I agree with )
NBC sports had a little write up about Doughty's comments regarding Quick. I thought this was an interesting stat:
Quote:
The West Coast issue comes up a lot during awards season, especially with the Vezina Trophy (which is voted on by the league’s general managers.) Given that Kings games don’t often start until 10pm ET, there’s an assumption most of the Eastern-based voters are fast asleep by the time Quick does his thing.
(PHT Aside: Interesting to note that of the last 20 Vezina winners, only three — Miikka Kiprusoff, Ed Belfour x2 — came from the Western Conference.)
Which I disagree with. Shouldn't be the guy with the lowest PIMs and highest point total, should also be how the guy presents himself on the ice and how he interacts with the refs etc. Not just points and PIMs.

true, but noone who votes is going to study all players like that to decide. They will make it easy on themselves and just go highest points/least pims
