For Lucic to take on Kaleta and not destroy an agitator who fights about 5 times a year is pretty good. Lucic shouldve pounded him harder than that.
I cant believe you honestly bring up celebrations when youre defending Lucic. Kaleta stepping up to fight Lucic is the weight class equivalent of Lucic stepping up to fight Laraque which didnt happen
I really hope you are not a Buffalo fan... Rob Ray celebrated every fight he lost
what is Lucic supposed to do? Let Kaleta beat him up? Kaleta went after him. that whole weight class equivalent is absolutely moronic.. Lucic is twice the player Kalerta and Laraque are combined.
Steve Downie. Though I guess he's not really that underrated. What other 5'11" guy do you know who would take on Chara in a fight? He can play hockey too!
Not to take anything away from downie, but I think Neil has fought Chara like 3 times

I'm not a buffalo fan and have said I dont mind Lucic but no he shouldnt let Kaleta beat him up, but its just weird how Lucic has taken on other terrible hockey players but not some of the real legit tough guys. He has gotten better I think but I would really like to see him go with some of the heavyweights before we start declaring him all kinds of things.

This is true but he was voted the most intimidating player in the league. That doesn't happen by accident. Basically what happened when he fought kaleta it was a no win situation for some people i guess.. if ya beat the **** out of kaleta its expected.. if he lost that fight or had a poor showing then he isn't as tough. So he smoked kaleta.. he's done it to some bad fighters.. he's also some good wins over tough guys in his career as well.

I dunno man, Lucic has fought some pretty tough dudes, Orr and Carkner included, guys he really has no business fighting
I'm not saying you think he cherry picks, a lot of people do, saying he always fights guys smaller than him, but hey, when you are 6'4, there's only a couple of handful of guys bigger than you in the whole league
not with lucic. watch him fight and tell me how many other fighters have destroyed competition like lucic.
I really don't think he has "destroyed" too many at all.
If you think he, and I'll quote you: "lucic is clearly one of the best fighters the NHL has ever seen. along with too too ", then either you are quite young, or haven't been watching hockey for long.
Has "ever seen"???? Not even in the same time zone as the ball park! Orr took care of him 2 seasons ago, he didn't even beat Rosehill last year. Don't get me wrong, we need more guys Lucic in today's game, but to even mention his name as one of the best fighters the NHL has ever seen is totally laughable! And Tootoo???? Maybe pound for pound one of the better guys now, but ever? No way!!
Best fighters the NHL has ever seen - include Probert, Kocur ( on the same team even!!! ), Domi....guys like Kordic, Tony Twist, Basil McRae, Grimson. Even guys like Gino Odjick, Dave Manson, Sandy MacArthy (sp?) are better than Lucic in terms of fighting. These guys would dominate anybody today - and they were all just scrappers. Look at guys that could play and beat the crap out of people - Cam Neely, Wendel Clark, McSorely, Owen Nolan (in his prime).

you didnt even mention laraque? crazy, but anyways. lucic would beat a lot of those guys. just because they have had more fights then lucic doesnt make them better fighters. lucic picks his shots and overwhelms his opponents, i think domi would get lose to him. yea ill admit i went a little far with too too but he too would and most likely could beat domi in a fist fight
yes career wise, most of the guys you listed would be higher on an all time fighter greats list.
also for one i think lucic would lose to lindros and most likely laraque and some others but he wouldnt get destroyed by some of the people you think would do so

Yeah but those fights with those guys were pretty weird.
First of all, Orr was pretty much the first real legit tough guy he fought and he basically ran behind the refs towards the end of the fight and didnt want anything to do with it.
The Carkner fight was Carkners first game back in forever and he hadnt fought for a very long time. He was shaking the rust off with Lucic. I mean props to Lucic for going him, and that win gained more respect from me but it was still iffy how long Carkner had been out and inactive.
Calling him the most intimidating I dont really haver a problem with. He nails guys, is crazy and dirty at times and can hurt yuou on the score board. But I still think its premature to call Lucic a top dog in the NHL

If I remember correctly, when Lucic fought Orr, it was of his first games back after missing time (yes he got his ass handed to him). Maybe someone esle called him a top dog in the league, wasn't I. But there is probably, what, 10 guys who can beat him up? Guys who can score 25+ and beat up your team's tough guy are pretty rare,
Overrated: Big Mac
He knocked out Ivanans who kept his chin wide open for a shot, got fed like 5 shots to the jaw before he went down. Knocked down a 37 year old Brashear 10 years past his prime. Thats his major NHL highlights in a nutshell. Got tooled by Godard. I still like him though, not #1 in my book though.
Underrated: Bam Bam
As a hockey player and a fighter. Most of the geeks on the main board think he is useless aside from fighting and cant skate. He is a decent skater going straight and is one of the best hitters (an underrated skill on these boards) in the game. Beast on the forecheck. He is very smart when it comes to fighting, doesnt go t2t with guys bigger then him but will with guys his size. Never seen the guy get K.O. and has the best endurance of any fighter past or present.
If I was GM, he would be in my top 2 prefered choices for an enforcer.
Best: Mcgrattan
Always goes t2t and never see him get handed to. (Boogaard k.o. the exception) Wasnt voted the toughest player by NHL players for nothing.
Take it you never saw his fight with Vandermeer? Or his two with Boogaard? Or him going draw with is one fight with McGratten. Dropped Prust with a body shot? Fought Godard, got his face broken. And still fought Godard again. Commited fighter and holds his own.
Over: Prust and McGratten
Under: Peckham and M.Kassian

orr was not the first legit tough guy he fought, so that's wrong. yea he lost to him and backed off and let the refs step in but people forget that up to that point he was fighting orr very close. it wasn't domination by orr until orr landed that one massive shot.
carkner is a heavy and Lucic beat him, get over it. you're the guy who continues to think that the NHL today is the NHL of ten years ago and that there are a bunch of enforcers in the league, heavyweights who can't play the game are dying off quickly and with a quick look around the league you would see that there aren't many for Lucic to fight in the first place.
in this new NHL Lucic is a heavyweight. not top dog but one of the better fighters
Steve Downie. Though I guess he's not really that underrated. What other 5'11" guy do you know who would take on Chara in a fight? He can play hockey too!
He didn't really fight Chara. He immediately turtled. I think many 5'11" guys can turtle vs Chara.
Reasoning Scott and Chara are overrated; Scott cant dominate 5'11" Cam Janssen who hung in real well with him. He, Chara and Gill all suck at fighting.
As a resident of St Louis, Missouri and having seen the majority of Janssen's games with the notes I would like to say to you that you are wrong here. Cam Janssen is a horrible fighter, he basically grabs the guy and just keeps him at a distance while doing nothing the first half of the fight, then the refs start to come over and he waves them off like there is going to be some kind of a grand finale or something and then he just continues to do nothing asides from trade little jabs =/
