Could see them in the 4-6 range as soon as next season.

Sens fan putting them in the 4-6 range. They have some dynamic and reliable scorers. Not much of a 200ft game though.

I'd rank it better than an advanced statistician, but worse than a casual fan. Somewhere around the middle of the pack probably.

I voted for 4-6 and a major reason is because of the goals Phil Kessel can score and during an 82 game schedule he is good for 35 - 40. Plus when you factor in other players such as Lupul, van Riemsdyk and if Kadri can have the same type of season next year, they should have a great offense.

Mind bogglingly stupid post. Sure pal i guess GF doesn't count for Eastern teams because they didnt play Western teams. Where do people come up with such garbage? I guess the West's goals against doesn't mean a damn thing either because they didn't play any eastern teams? This is actually one of the worst posts of the year so far.

At least half of the teams in the west would make the Maple Leafs look like the Edmonton Oilers on a regular basis.

Attempting to rank league wide offense when one conference doesn't even play the other is pretty significant. 2/3rds of the leagues top scorers are in the east for a reason.

HERP DERP DERP, Leafs went 9-6-3 against the West last year and finished 10th in GF, with a worse team. Try again.

No reason why they wouldn't have tanked this season as well

Philly and New Jersey would of knocked out Toronto and the Islanders if they played a full year

So their offense would of dried up
Another derper. Taking out the frustrations of that San Jose sweep? FYI, Leafs collapsed last year the way they did because their schedule was unbalanced. They faced softer/easier teams in the first 55 games or so. Down the stretch, they played Philadelphia, Boston, Florida, Washington, etc, all teams that had been giving them trouble throughout the season, as well as other playoff squads, and no surprise they struggled.

They faced each Eastern team this year proportionately and did just fine.

And lol @ NJ and Philly, with what offense would NJ be able to do anything, and with what defense would Philly have been able to do anything?

Last season, which is the best we can go off of, the leafs scored 55 goals in the 18 games they played against western conference opponents for a goals per game of 3.06.

In the 64 games against eastern conference teams the leafs scored 176 goals for a goals per game of 2.75.

Seems like the leafs scored more against the west.

Just for the hell of it, lets looks at 2 seasons ago.

The leafs scored 53 goals in the 18 games vs the west for a goals per game of 2.94.

Against the east they scored 165 goals in the remaining 64 games for a goals per game of 2.58.

Other east teams may score less against the west, but the leafs score more.

Don't buy into the "better team" bit. The Leafs this year had some of the worst possession numbers of any team post-lockout and were out shot how many times? They were a walking recipe for death against the western trap this season.

I like last years Leafs over a standard 82 game schedule.
