I wouldn't do that. We don't know what we have in Scheifele and it's possible that he's a #2 C in 2 or 3 years. I like the intangibles that Richards brings, but IMO he doesn't have the offense to warrant that kind of overpayment. We also could be getting someone pretty elite at #9 this year.

I don't see a great fit there with him being a LW. Unless one of Ladd, Kane, or JVR can play RW.

Same as Richards. Gross overpayment. How about we see what we have in Scheifele and the 9th pick first? It's not like either of those trades (Richards or Couturier) gets us the cup next year. These seem like classic examples of chasing a name instead of letting your own guys develop.
