Major drop offs in 2010 and 2011. I mean in 08' and 09' that's quite respectable. Wonder what happened to make them lose so many outside events in the past two years? Can't be the yotes, since it's irrelevant to filling calendar dates for other events.

Thats the patetented "I ain't touching that with a 10 foot pole" response.

You'd think he'd have more than a passing interest in this. I'm not familiar with the income tax structure of the State, but how much do you think is collected on 50 million in payroll?

They never would have collected the $50m, at best the $25m discounted amount from Balsie's proposal.

I was referring to the 1 x $25 million the NHL has already collected in AMF and the second pending $25 million payment to the NHL from the COG for AMF.

The COG have not got much in return for the money that they have paid the NHL to run jobing.com. Yes the Coyotes have played 41+ dates per season but other than that not much. For one of the highest AMF's known in North America you would think the arena manager would have been working hard to get bookings.

... and yet the building ranks near the very top amongst concert & event promoters as one of the best in the country.

Your relatively new here, but ya, weve noticed & commented on it before, and not just Mike Sunnucks. Some reports have literally copied/quoted posts from these threads almost word for word, using the same grammar/syntax & sources, appearing in reports a day or days after appearing here on hf by well known members.... people who are not reporters, say a David Shoalts, Sunnucks or Gallagher etc masquerading around in Drag.

Just in player salaries & team personnel including admin, lets say $65M all in, minimum 30%. Additionally, any act or event coming into the building pays taxes, so we could add some weight to that number even though as kdb has sadly illustrated with the Pollstar report, the numbers anemic, as in going going gone. A number of states also charge visiting team players taxes on what they earn (pro-rated of course) though Im not sure if Arizona/Glendale are doing that, and if not, they might wanna start kicking that can down the road as well. NFL, MLB, the works... ya reckon Mr. State Rep mightve thought of that ABD?.

Thanks for caring.

... and, their working in conjunction with AEG. AEG who is the 2nd largest concert promoter & booking agent on the planet. The same AEG who doesnt seem to have much trouble filling the 02's in Europe, the Staple Center, the Sprint in KC etc etc etc.... the AEG who skims the creme off the top of the Pre-Season Triple Layer European Cheesecake Tour by NHL clubs. Whose President is also Chairman of the NHL Expansion & Relocation Committee...Taylor Swift, Rammstein, Keith Urban & a bunch of Roller Skating Events, maybe one a month booked into the building over the past 3yrs. Pathetic. For 25 Million Big Ones. Triple to quadruple the going rate...

It is interesting that the state, who benefits the most financially from the existence of pro sport has been virtually silent on the topic. I'm sure that they have been involved behind the scenes on a consultative basis, but little help in the eye of the public.

Ya, bit of a corker. Theyve' got their hands full with an awful lot of issues but still... Jerry Wieres was talking conceptually, didnt have any kind of a handle on the situation despite the fact that he resides in Glendale itself & represents the District (12). His work is primarily in the area of Veterans Affairs. Setting up programs for the re-integration of returning military personnel from active duty, liaison with military, National Guard & Police etc. All invaluable services. Good stuff. Whats going down in Glendale outside of the realms of his life experiences. No help. Wouldnt even know where to begin.

those rankings are amazing and depressing. I'm sure some of it is the economy, but even then the trail off is just astonishing

Isnt it though?. Only Civil Servants get away with getting grossly overpaid for such gross incompetence, not all of them mind you, but still. Theres absolutely no excuse for this. None. Zero. Nada. Anyone else would be charged with fraud. Pathetic.

I believe that those are the years that NHL took over as arena managers. Nice to see Bettman and Daly really earning those $25m/year management fees...

From what we've seen, this year promises to be even worse. I think one could make a solid case that the NHL is intentionally salting the marketplace so Jamison can just fly out of there in ~5 years.

there was a thread on there once called "can I polish my stick with baby oil", not even a hint of irony.

I recant!

I've thought the same thing for a while. His articles are basically a summary of the most optimistic possibilities discussed in these threads. Case in point, one person posts a video of Jim Treliving in which he pauses for a moment while answering a question and Mike Sunnucks follows it up with article stating "An ownership group led by Canadian businessman Jim Treliving are in running to buy the Phoenix Coyotes".

Phoenix XLVII: No Sunnucks Allowed.
