I don't think the Canucks had an off night for Game 1, I think that's just what the team is now.
You can't play bad hockey for half a season (even while winning games) and expect to be completely different game 1 of the playoffs. Especially with all the line juggling, I just don't think they're good enough right now.
3-1 Kings.
They went 8 - 1 over there last 9 games knocking a couple of teams out of the playoffs in the process AND won their 2nd Presidents Trophy in as many years. The only part of their game that wasn't really working is their PP.
They had a crap game fueled by dumb penalties. LA played a great game and won by, essentially, one goal.
Vancouver brings it and LA can't match the tempo throughout the lineup period. Canucks have to make Quick the only factor for the Kings and then eliminate him (through net presence, traffic, multiple shots etc.) as a factor.
Canucks overall game, when on, is far superior to what the Kings can muster throughout the lineup. We'll see that tonight.
Nice to see Ballard getting in. Can't expect too much, but hopefully he gets up to speed quickly. I was happy with the way he was playing before being injured. Hopefully he'll be jacked up and it will rub off on the rest of the team.
I don't know why we don't plant Kassian infront of the net on the PP and just hammer shots to the net. Can't be any worse than what we are trying to do now. Anyways, I believe the boys will come out strong and even things up tonight.
Well that's Kesler's role and he has more experience doing it on what has been the top rated PP in the NHL the last couple of years. I'd play Kassian there on the 2nd unit though...
I have tried to listen to everyones advice and avoid the game but alas i am going to the game....pray for the canucks(atheist do what you do) as they are going to need it.
Last game the Canucks played like total retards, gave up soooo many penalty minutes including a 5 on 3 that kept piling on top of itself and a 5 min major, We shot a couple over the bloody boards and chirped none stop, even a couple dives. They looked like crap BUT we only lost by 1 goal
1 GOAL
Remember when San Jose pulled this routine on us and we went up like 6 goals, This team really just needs to calm down and play the first round of hockey against an inferior team instead of try and play the 8th game of last years playoffs
The canucks won't play like this tonight, have a little faith in AV he is gonna come down hard on the guys after last game and we will see on ice what makes him so good in the dressing room
