Lol! I wouldn't say that Kearse, Thomas, Simon, Douglas or Burgess were under sized lineman in 2004. JJs D also had an incredible secondary, which was made possible because of Dawkins (drafted before Reid). Also, Trotter at 260+ pounds is not a small LB plugging holes to stop the run...
A small, fast D line will get you nothing but garbage stats (sack totals). These stats will be created in the first 5-8 games, then the line will wear down. Taking the stats in context will show them as being almost meaningless (see: Jason Babin).
