Chilean metal rules. Probably the best of all the South American metal. Though most of it is very much in the South American style, so if you're not into wargoatdeathfago it's not for you.
Saw Immolation live a few days ago. Was not awesome.
Wait...What???
Did they have a bad gig or are you just not a fan? I'd find both hard to believe since they're among the top 5 active DM bands and have been for a decade now.
Immolation may not be awesome live, but Iron Maiden is.
Cannot wait untill July It will be my first Iron Maiden show.
If they play When the wild wind blows, Out of the shadows, Journeyman, The man who would be king, 2 am and The Prisoner my life would be completed
If I am lucky, they only play one of them

Immolation hasn't put out any good music in nearly a decade.

I enjoy Immolation, but not nearly as much as you or many others. Certainly nowhere near my top 5 active DM bands. Probably much closer to 50th than 5th on my list.
Live it just sounded too sterile. Too digital sounding, and too much mosh-bro BS.

I agree with you about Iron Maiden, actually I prefer them live than their recorded albums. Like Fear of the Dark is a great song on the album, but for some reason their live version of that song is about a billion times better.

Just out of curiosity what bands do you have among the top 5 active DM bands?
Speaking of old school death metal saw Vital Remains a week ago and had a great time, despite the many lineup changes they still put on a fun show, especially in smaller clubs.

Yeah, rock in rio is so damn intense Cannot wait to see them live, but they have so many awesome songs they wont play

So was Glen Benton playing? He's never been the vocalist when I've had the chance to see them...
The Chasm, Immolation, Incantation, Asphyx, Bolt Thrower.
Are you basing this off of recent output, total careers, peak, or something else? Because, say, Morbid Angel is still "active" and should be on everyone's top 5 list if they are talking about peak, but their recent output has been turrrible. Considering Bolt Thrower hasn't released an album since 2005, I find it hard to believe you're weighting recent output heavily. So I find the omissions of Morbid Angel, Entombed, and Autopsy to be interesting. Obviously my top five is not going to agree with yours 100%, but I'm still curious to see how you determine it.
Off the top of my head (and in no particular order within each category, and not counting Repugnant as active since Ghost is stealing all of Goore's time):
Top 5 recent output:
Tribulation
Black Breath
Witchrist
Cruciamentum
Portal
Top five active total career:
Necrophobic
Bolt Thrower
Entombed
Incantation
Gorguts
Top five active peak:
Morbid Angel
Entombed
Repulsion
Incantation
Bolt Thrower

basically total career output, those bands are consistently high quality. Morbid Angel have really dropped the ball with the H and I albums. I only care for Entombed's first two albums, as amazing as they are, the Death n' Roll stuff was passable at best and the newer stuff isn't as good. I love Cryptopsy's None so Vile to death, but they've been crap since then. Autopsy would be #6 on my list.
