Not close to the team on their losing streak. Not dumb enough to guarantee a win, but they're a different team.

Washington will improve, too much talent, but things are definitely a mess. Doubt they blow it up.

Well when you lose to the rangers and they are the ones who go out and get Nash and Richards the year before. While the caps only pick up the rangers fourth line trash in Wolski and aquire Ribero two years too late.

But hey ,according to GmGm...im not in the game so I dont know ****. Neither do any of you. See the problem??

trade Ovechkin to a sucker willing to sell the farm for his name, draft Mackinnon and they'll be fine.

funny how all these players getting insane long deals tend to start getting worse after about 3 years into them

At the time he was made captain, his on-ice performance was good enough to make up for his deficiencies as a player and as a captain.

IMO, he was going to be the guy who got the most attention and seen as the face of the Caps anyway so why make him captain? Seemed like a reactive move to Crosby getting the "C".

As another poster mentioned, take away the "C" and see what happens. Getting close to a nothing to lose scenario.

They just need a retool. Get rid of some dead weight, insert Kuznetsov and Forsberg. From the outside, the defense could need a veteran that isn't spare parts. Also, make a decision in goal and stick to it. How many years have they rotated the goalies now? And the wheel never stops.. They need some stability in net, not potential.

So much damn talent over the last ten years. Jagr went from a GoaT to an 80 point player. Ovi is dropping hard. Green and Backstrom are following.

You could make an argument that on paper they've had the most collection of talent over the past ten years. Yet they've never made it past the second round.

I don't get it.
Honestly, I think some teams just aren't built for success in the playoffs. It could be the DC sports curse too.

Goaltending is a major issue. Both Neuvirth and Holtby are back up quality. Imo Harding in Minnesota impressed me last year, they should kidnap him.

This. Caps have Forsberg and Kuznetsov coming over. The tank seems to be strong in this team, so add in Mackinnon, Drouin, Barkov or at this point even Seth Jones, and figure out goaltending. I think they could fetch a pretty good return for Marcus Johannson at the deadline, or sell off guys like Hamrlik, Perrault, or Schultz. Wouldn't be surprised to see any defenseman outside of Green dangled to be honest.

Tomas Kundratek has been a pleasant surprise, Orlov is coming back from injury, and Schilling is playing well right now in Hershey. The D actually has a solid young core as Carlson and Alzner were a legit top pairing up until this year. Add in Kuzya, Forsberg, and most likely a top 3 pick and there's a very good young offensive core as well.

First and foremost, I'd like to see GMGM gone. But I'm not sure if Leonsis would do any better in replacing him if his handling of the GM situation for Wizards Basketball is any indication.

This team is so frustrating to watch. Feels like I'm watching Space Jam and someone stole all their talent.
