Divisions if Atlanta Moves to Winnipeg and Detroit to Eastern Conference

I'm just wondering what the divisions will look like IF the Thrashers (HYPOTHETICALLY) move to Winnipeg and the Wings come to the eastern conference. I know there was another division thread, but that was if Phoenix moves, not Atlanta. If this was already discussed in there, mods, feel free to merge/move this thread.

Edit- Sorry Atlanta fans, but it still is a possibility.

Edit #2- I'm wondering what the Eastern Conference divisions will look like, since it's pretty easy to figure out the West.

I'd hazard a guess at:

Winnipeg > Northwest
Colorado > Pacific
Dallas > Southeast

As stupid as that would be time-wise I don't see anything else working. Detroit would either have to go to the Southeast or someone else could have to move there.

For the West, Winnipeg to the NW, Colorado to the Pacific, and Dallas to the Central.

The East would be tricky but Quebec getting a team would make it easier (who moves if not Phoenix? Florida?). You could have Detroit with Toronto, Ottawa, and Buffalo and have Boston, Montreal and Quebec together. NJ/NYI/NYR would be the other division, and fill in the gaps from there. But whether Quebec happens or not, the East would need a major realignment.

I dont think this is fair to Thrashers fans. How about we wait and see what happens?

Hey Detroit,

Don't let the door hit you on the way out. All Western teams would be thrilled to not have to deal with a team that is consistently dominant. However, it'll never happen. Detroit can sell out more arenas than any other Western team, for that reason the league won't let them go anywhere.

Stop saying Florida is getting moved. It's not gonna happen now that we got new owners and one of the best arenas in the league. It's starting to get ****ing annoying!

I read somewhere that the Blue Jackets is trying to join the EC. Atlanta gone and CBJ in?

Maybe you didn't read my first post. I didn't say move any team to Winnipeg. I also never said move Detroit to the East. I said hypothetically, if Atlanta moves to Winnipeg and Detroit moves to the East, what will the divisions look like. If you don't want to be part of this thread, just ignore it. Simple as that. Go start your own thread and feel free to talk about whatever you want if you don't want to be part of this conversation.

What? Atlanta isn't being cut. I'm talking about the possibility if they move.

Why conjecture on things that aren't even likely to occur anytime soon? Useless.

There are obviously people who care about hockey in Atlanta, just not enough. That's not the point of this thread. What don't you understand? No team is getting cut, since the NHLPA will never allow that to happen.

There are threads on relocations and reconfiguring the divisions like every single week if Phoenix moves. Now once I create a thread about virtually the same thing, but Atlanta instead of Phoenix and that's when everyone calls this whole **** stupid? I don't get you people. Detroit wants to go into the East and True North Sports will try to buy the Thrashers if they don't buy the Coyotes. How is it unlikely that it happens soon?

Sounds like the same thing to me. You are just arguing semantics. Hypotheticals are based on what you want to happen, after all.

Then you don't understand English. Where did you see that I said any team should move to Winnipeg? I honestly don't care if Winnipeg gets a team or not. Where did you see that I said Detroit should move to the East? No where. I said IF they move to the East. There's a difference between if and should.

WOW! Holy Hell people are sensitive. Some of you really too much.

This is a discussion board. People can discuss whatever they please. If you choose to ignore the hypotheticals of the proposed discussion then don't bother joining the discussion at all.

I seriously don't understand wtf is going on. It seems as if everyone forgot what the words hypothetically, if, and should means. I just asked one question and the thread gets completely derailed.

Hypothetical questions are pondered each and every day in all aspects of life whether we like it or not. Discussing shouldn't be a big deal like some are making it out to be.

Or, you could, y'know, ignore the thread instead of being snarky about it.

I believe I read a year back that the Dallas Stars have the worst travel of any team in the 4 major U.S. sports...even worse than the Texas Rangers who also are in the western division because unlike the Stars they dont make trips to Edmoton/Calgary/Vancouver which are 3-4 hour flights from Dallas...so any chance the NHL gets to put Dallas in the central they likely will take.

Minnesota is by far the closest team to Winnipeg geographically, just saying.
