At 3:36, it's one of the only times I didn't understand what was happening and yelled at the screen for a replay to see how he scored this one.

There are tons to choose from, obviously, but I would probably vote for Alexei Kovalev's goal for Russia against the United States, I think it was at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey. Might have been the Olympics, but pretty sure it happened in North America. He just casually skated up ice, deked everybody and roofed a wrister from the left wing like he had done it before, every day, since he was born.

In terms of pure skill, he is arguably the GOAT.

It might be recency bias but that pass by Karlsson was the most extraordinary thing I've seen in a long time.

Here is one that isn't the most skilled thing Ive ever seen but its certainly fun. Marchand dekes Doughty and Kopitar out of their pants and then beats Quick on the PK.

That goal OV scored on his backside was pretty ridiculous.

Speaking of that Karlsson pass, does anyone have a video of the HD breakdown of that pass? I saw a vid of it showing it was about 15 ft (?) high and traveled about 120 feet.

Best sauce pass of all time? I certainly think so.

Wow I was not expecting that kind of ankle breaking ability from Tim Connolly. And the fact it's on alfy makes it even better!

For the best play I've ever seen? It's in the Olympics, not the nhl. But it was when pronger passed the puck to lemieux but instead of shooting it he let it go through his legs to karyia who then scored on the wide open net.

Tim Connolly did stuff like that regularly. He is one of the best danglers I've seen. Too bad he was always injured

I remember him playing on the leafs and I never saw anything like that! Was just looking at his stats, kinda sad he really fell off at the end.

It's not one player so I'm cheating but virtually every shift the Russian 5 were on the ice displayed jaw dropping skill.

Yeah. It was like the Sedins where it was skill and just a mind blowing amount of cohesion and chemistry that made it look like art.

For me it's probably this one, and I'm not sure if it's close. I have no idea how he stayed on his feet tbh or kept track of the puck. Quality is potato, don't blame me

Afiniganov-360
Ovechkin-goal on his back
Malkin-360 backhand shelf
Crosby-1 handed backhand
Datsyuk-backhand toe drag
Forsberg-one hand backhand
Granlund-lacrosse goal
Marek Malik-between the legs shootout

Those are the best goals off the top of my head

That was an accident. He didn't intend for that play to work out that way.

Sucks that there's no good quality video of this anywhere, but this is one of my favourite goals of the 2000s that always gets overlooked

Just otherworldly skill and in the last minute of the game to boot
