last night was pretty fun. lots of hits and penalties. i felt like the food was way overpriced. shouldve walked around more to find better food. some lady said all vendors were the same so we just ate the plain ass hot dogs for $6.
the most annoying thing was the announcer who kept saying SF BULLS..(3sec pause) act like you got a pair. he said it at almost every stoppage. not a kid friendly slogan, but what do you expect from cow palace right? all in all fun night, lotta fights.
EDIT: The music selection at every stoppage was horrible!!! Get that guy outta there.
The only other thing I thought was odd was how many stoppages there were (or how long they were). I think the game actually took longer than an NHL game, which was confusing to me since it's not on TV (as far as I know). I assume part of that may have just been working out kinks, but maybe this is normal for ECHL games?
That's great news. One of my college teachers was there photographing the game for a local publication. I felt terrible for him. That kind of lighting makes it almost impossible to get sharp images from such a fast paced sport.

Lots to get sorted out as far as the venue though. Announcements and music were screwy. The lighting wasn't great, and the images on the JumboTron look further away than the view from any seat in the venue. But it was everyone's first night, so i'm sure things will improve quickly.
Three things though, if anyone official is out there is listening: beer prices need to come down, the place is much too warm, and please change that lame fight song!

PS- Which of you full-season ticket holders want to use your discount to help me buy a jersey?
Yeah, I was really surprised by how expensive concessions were. I thought the concessions people were pretty cool though. There was a place near where we were sitting called the Sausage Haus. We were their first two customers. They couldn't get the beer taps working properly, so they gave us a couple of free Molsons. The sausage selection there was pretty good too.
It was awkwardly warm the whole time. It looked like there was a thin layer of fog floating on the ice. And what was up with all the 90's music? Seems like they still have the royalties from when the Spiders were playing

i agree, there were some random whistles and didn't actually see why. the shorty we got, the announce said was unassisted. i saw a very nice pass. one of the pp goals we got, he got the wrong player (#24 Langdon instead of #44 Forgot his name) who scored while saying "it's official!!!"
I had a lot of fun at the game last night. I am glad to hear that the lighting will improve. It was pretty dark in there. I thought the quality of hockey was very good. I think most players on the Bulls played their 1st pro game. I especially liked Martin Lee, he was solid last night.
Listened to feed on knbr.com. A few kinks there to work out as well.
Silence (actually background noise from broadcast position) rather than any ads/promos until middle of 1st intermission.
All the "ads" were rotation of 5 or so Bulls promos.

Started ~7:15 and was over after 10. Ran longer than 2.5 hours, even factoring in the OT.
ECHL has two "media breaks"/period.
There was a hold on the action for something (wasn't paying too much attention) that delayed things ~5 minutes.

Also helps to have a camera with f2.8 to get all the light in you can. (Learned to crank up the ASA in dimmer lighting situations as well.)

You lose quality when you crank up the iso and you lose depth of focus when you lower the fstop. Two things that im sure Sharksohnoes' teacher probably didnt want.

Word. He had his 300 f/2.8 with him. Even with that at 3200iso he was still getting motion blur. That's when you need that nifty 135mm f/2 That thing is sweet.

Anyone out there who has the full DirecTV sports pack know if the local New England stations televise baby Sharks games? I am a bit concerned about going through hockey withdrawl. I have always had Center Ice, but that is clearly of no help right now. Willing to invest in the full sports package if I can watch the Sharklings.

I agree about Martin Lee. He made a lot of good choices and seemed very comfortable out there. I imagine he will be the rock on defense.

The WorSharks TV is usually limited to a local cable channel...that might change if the lockout goes long, but as of now there's no way to see them on a TV network that anything other than locals here can get.
You can watch online at ahlllive.com, but the games are not free...
Now 5-0. Bulls have already gone to the box 6 times haha.
LS was right about the broadcast. I've been switching between the Bulls broadcast and the Eagles broadcast. It's night and day. Amateur hour over on the Bulls station. Has this guy ever even seen a hockey game?
