I would also say it would take more than Rundblad and a 1st as even Kaberle returned more than that last season.
Not much interest in Rundblad either, I would be interested in Gormley and the 1st but I agree with Medium Rare that we need to be targetting forward prospects, more importantly a center.

What about adding Boedker in there and he might spark with a fellow European in Baertschi so ...

To Calgary
Boedker
Rundblad
1st (20)

To Phoenix

Jarome Iginla

no thanks, I think DD85 is on the right track in getting younger without rebuilding. just swapping assets like the Iginla for Green and Semin idea.

A shakeup, yes but it doesn't mean years of tanking and trading star players for picks.
Yea I understand personally I am more than comfortable with letting Irving being our starting goaltender and would rather not move that first, also at this point in time we can't trade Stajan as he is the only center man we have who can win a faceoff.

Calgary
Alex Semin (re-signed)

LA Kings
1st Round Pick (Either San Jose/Calgary)
Leland Irving

Calgary
Jonathon Bernier

Just my wild attempt. Obviously not a scorched earth approach, but gives the team some strong offense, and a decent d-core and a good young goalie without mortgaging the future.

I don't understand why you wouldn't keep Kipper until retirement. A 36 year old goalie that still keeps you in every game? I'd take that over an unproven back up anyday of the week...

For Murray and a first I think that is a fair deal. Murray's defense should make it easier for an unproven goalie.

Tonight on HNIC, Eric Francis said he talked to some GMs, and consensus is that the Flames could get 1st rd pick, top-six player and top prospect for Iginla.

And Eric Francis as usual would be wrong....2 years ago that was the case...even perhaps a year ago...not now...not for a 35 year old player who is not getting better that perhaps has 2-3 more decent seasons left in him.....

If Iginla gets traded Flames will get a mid to late 1st round pick, a good prospect and a good young player. Somewhere close to that package. With all the rumors Philly was looking at trading JVR this year I could see a package similar to Philly's 1st, JVR and another young player or prospect.
I'm a Flyer fan and if we ever gave that much for Iggy I would be livid...anyways, you are not going to get that kind of package for a 35 year old player who will be a free agent in one year....Calgary has horribly mismanaged Iggy in terms of getting max value for him now.....

which is what most Flames fans have been saying from the start.

I would also say salary dumps would be a factor too

And your usually right when compared to Eric Francis? Iginla is a top 6 forward on any team in this league. For many teams he is a top line player.

Thats the max alot of flames fans have been expecting maybe the market is higher than several arm chair GMs think?

From Pens, I would offer Martin + Bennett + 1st '12 + 3rd '13 (top-4 D + top prospect + two picks - I don't give a F if draft is in Burgh this year or not)

actually the fact the draft is in Pittsburgh is a bigger reason to pull off a big trade IMO, more ways to generate excitement than a late pick.

That said, no thanks. The Flames don't even listen unless Staal's name is first.

Penguin Tommy, your proposal is pretty good. But seeing Pens fans constantly ripping on Paul Martin, combined with his 5 million dollar cap-hit for the next three years, has me a little concerned. This is a team that already has Jay Bouwmeester, and can't afford to also have his twin from out east.

We need to be realistic. Jordan Staal is a two-way centerman who is fourteen years younger than Iginla and just matched his offensive output this past season. It won't happen.

Maybe there is the basis for a Bouwmeester/Martin swap. I think Jay would fit in well with the Penguins system

Unrealistically it would have to be something like Dallas drafts Collberg, then flip Collberg to Flames for Iglina. Collberg becomes the less physical swedish Iglina but with a brighter future and many stanley cup rings and hardware and Iglina wins Dallas several cups and ****.
