The lower they are in the standings towards the deadline, the better the chances of becoming sellers. It's tough to sell a fanbase on selling off players for futures if you're in ninth or tenth place and two points out of the playoffs, which is likely why they haven't been sellers these last few years.
It's not the fanbase. Us Flames fans are perfectly aware of what we are. Unfortunately the super rich people who own the team aren't up for it.
