Patriots sign Brandon Lloyd
No surprise...
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
And there's a second wideout added: Patriots have reached agreement with free-agent wide receiver Brandon Lloyd.

I hate the Pats, but what an awesome signing by them. And at that cost, too? How does he get less than guys like Garcon, Meachem, and Robinson?
Nicely done Pats.

Least surprising signing of the offseason
McDaniels and Lloyd are the NFL's version of Richards and Carter's bromance

As expected.
So now the Pats have Welker, Lloyd, Chad, Gonzo. Plus Edelman, Underwood and Slater.
I'm guessing Branch won't be back. I wonder if anyone else picks him up?

Very long history of indifferent play and poor work ethic would be my guess
He is also older then all 3 of those guys you listed

Because the best bargains come after the first day of free agency. The first day of free agency is where most of the guys get overpaid.

Figured it would happen and happy it did.
LaRon Landry could be next.

It's a typical Patriots signing. I don't know how many FA's have worked out for the Patriots recently, but it's still the best place for Lloyd to succeed.

solid signing. i bet branch sticks around too as the third wideout. i mean he already was the "third" wideout the pats just didnt have a one.
and i mean where 1 is the deeper route guy, 2 is possestion and 3 is wthe middle depth other outside guy. in other words, dion wont see the field in the standard 2 wr 2 te 1 rb set ( welker, lloyd, gronk, hernandez, ridley?)

Pats re-signed Branch too.
I doubt they carry 7 WRs. 2 of Johnson, Stallworth, Gonzalez, Edelman will be gone by Week 1 probably.

I don't know what their secondary is like, but they could be looking at maybe moving Edelman there permanently?
