This thread should be solely on the future GM and not the future headcoach.

It is already hard to speculate who's gonna be GM and what kind of headcoach he would pick.

All we can be sure is that AT LEAST one of the new guy - GM or headcoach - will be fully bilingual.
Good post habitue. I agree with this. You bring some sanity to this thread, which has been pretty insane.

It wasn't his job to protect players. He protected himself and his career. That's what every other single player in the league does. They look out for #1, themselves.

He wasn't willing to toil in mediocrity as a player and I'd take a player like that anyday of the week over someone who is happy with not having a real chance to win the cup.

If you look at the end of Roy's playing career, he also quit on the Avs because HIM being mediocre wasn't good enough for him. He could easily have played 3-4 more years but if he couldn't dominate on his own, then he wasn't good enough to be a winner.

Those are the kinds of players that win.

Yes that is the question, but maybe not for the reasons you think it is.

The worst case for Habs is that there is no great french candidate, and a clearly better Anglo candidate is available and they don't choose him.

Watch and see grasshopper.

I have a feeling that they'll end up going with an anglo GM and french coach.

I don't see both being french tbh. Its just too limiting.

Assuring your contending team has home ice advantage all the way through the playoffs 2 years in a row is not terrible coaching, it's what coaches should do. He's a legit candidate, no question.

I agree with you. I would prefer a French GM, but only if he's the best. As for coach, I've been saying for a while, with a good roster, all a coach has to do is not **** it up. Lots of good french candidates, might as well go with one.

It is our GM and roster that need major improvement, let's get the best GM to do the job, french or english.

I'm sure it does? I'm talking about Wilson, not sure where you're going.

Nice talk though.

Give me Bergevin over Wilson any day. San Jose hasn't won jack. Chicago is built far better and they won. I believe Bergevin has a better idea of what the winning formula is. Plus the Leafs connection makes me shudder.

Bergevin was promoted to Assistant GM after they won the cup. He's got the least experience in the group, even Julien Brisebois has more experience than he does. He was also only Director of Player Personnel for only two years.

He lacks experience imo.

Basically here is his resume

2005-2007 Scout
2007-8 Director of Pro Scouting
2008-9 Assistant Coach
2009-11 Director of Player Personnel
2011-present Assistant GM
