I believe that the original poster was claiming that Lemieux not getting fined over the "move the team" comment and Torts getting fined for his comments about Sid/Geno/arrogance etc... was a double standard.
They were two completely different circumstances and I do not believe there is a double standard in this case. I believe there was another situation that could be loosely considered a double-standard .... but not this one.
I guarantee if the Rangers and Flyers were better than the Penguins, and this same alleged "double standard" was happening, it wouldn't be as big a deal.

In all fairness - the Isles went about it the wrong way but another poster pointed out the weeks leading up to the explosion....
At the end of the day - I will be rooting for our Division - Pens first - but if they get eliminated I will pull for the NYR/Flyers/Devils. Most passion and pride in the NHL.
Could anybody else pull for their divisional rival if your team is eliminated from the playoffs?

As far as Brooks goes, agreed. There were certain sentiments Tortarella made that even though he does complain a lot, is isn't like he had zero validation. The f-bomb's got him the fine, and the league doesn't like the fact that he talked about "the first two rules of Fight Club" to the press - the fact that the Penguins have enough talent to win, enough "competitive nature" to occasionally allow for a player to take advantage of what the refs don't see, the ability to win with either/or, and the will to leave a pile of bodies on the ice in the process. Despite what Pens' fans will interpret that is, that is NOT a compliment, because no fewer Penguins than Orpik will take it too far. Western Pennsylvania would try to secede and form their own state if Coburn layed a knee-to-knee hit on Malkin/Crosby like Orpik did Stepan.
We can pretty much conclude that the Penguins' use of "grey tactics" is a very real thing, and the shoe winding up on the other foot would teach a few fanatics that no team is invincible, even with Mike Bossy.....and also cause the server to crash.

Why bother at this point? Any Pens fan or reasonable hockey fan is just beating their head against a wall at this point. You cannot argue or reason with this level of stupidity. I look forward to the immense hatred, whining, and butthurt that will commence with every Pens playoff win.
