The Barons lose 1-0 to San Antonio, and with that their regular season is over. First up in the Calder Cup playoffs is the Houston Aeros, which is a good first round opponent for them. These teams know each other fairly well.
he lacks grit, i agree yes, give him some time to develop, but the moment he does show value, he should be packaged up and traded off for either gritty established forward or a defenseman. I think the book is out on this kid, stone hands, decent dangles, not great hockey sense but terrific tool box. it's been the same deal with him for 5 years now. I just don't see him becoming big and mean. could be utilized as a checker but there are better options out there. We'll see I guess.
I do agree he is weak and soft, he needs to get sent to Gary Roberts camp, he can skate like the wind, just mainly needs to strengthen up, the hockey sense is definitely there.
Question. If OOKC happens to lose in 1st rnd by chance, do all those that want Todd Nelson promoted still? Or do you still consider him on the year as a whole?
Expectations are they go quite deep in the PO's this year.
OKC Barons Fan Voting Results: Top Forward: Ryan Keller; Top Defenseman: Bryan Helmer; Rookie of the Year: Hunter Tremblay; MVP: Yann Danis; Fan Favorite: Kirill Tulupov.
Congratulations guys!!

I must agree with the results. Pretty obvious I guess. haha.
4 points in 8 NHL games during that period as well. Appears that on paper he's playing well. Eric Rodgers is a guy that follows the Barons and he recently said on twitter that Paajarvi has been playing well but hasn't been getting any bounces.
Paajarvi scored 34 points as a 19-20 year old rookie. Terrific wheels, projectable frame, good defensive game with some untapped offensive ability. At worst he will end up being an excellent defensive forward who can chip in 30 points a season. Those guys do not grow on trees.

doesnt matter what fans want but I believe the management wanted Nelson to get a couple playoffs under his belt before making the jump to NHL.
I think they'll extend Renney for one more year regardless how deep Nelson takes the Barons.
A Calder cup IMO should get him the NHL job right away.
