As soon as I saw a Schneider for Yakupov deal, I knew this was a Vancouver fan making this proposal.

It's hilarious that Van fans in this thread are saying the Canucks are giving up too much. IF COLUMBUS IS REBUILDING, THEY ARE NOT GIVING UP THE FIRST OVERALL FOR A GOALIE THAT BECOMES A UFA IN ONE YEAR.

How about 1st overall for the right to Weber.

Nashville gets Yakupov to play with Radulov. Columbus gets a franchise defenseman to build around

Weber is not signed, why would he sign for CBJ? His contract expires after the playoffs. Sure he is a RFA but that doesn't mean he'll accept an offer from CBJ. Just like Ehrhoff said no to Isles when they aquired his rights.

That's one of the worse offensive lines I've seen in years. That line might (notice the might part) be good in the future. Bad wingers though.... no highscoring players basically. just Prospal and JVR. Prospal is old. Are u gonna find a elite RW and sign him as a UFA? No offense but elite players tend to prefer contending teams .

HAHAHAHAHAHA oh wait you were serious? Schenn has 1 bad year and then he is only worth crappy Brassard and @#tty Mason? Hilarious because it was rumored of a Schenn for JVR deal basically earlier in the season. YOU NEED

That's true they run that risk, but:
1) They could pay him all the money he wants
2) Worst case scenario turn around and try to sell him for a higher price.

I think the risk is worth it. Weber would be a great piece to start building a franchise around. Especially since they already have Johnson. Build from the back.

Fix the CBJ in three moves? How about...

LA's 1st and Regner (D) to Vancouver for Schneider

Nash to Boston for Krejci, Hamilton, Bos 1st

Tyutin & Mayorov to Edmonton for Paajarvi & Musil

Add Yakupov through the draft (or trade down and snag Galchenyuk) and that's a pretty good start. Granted probably going to get the normal responses here but I'm sure picks and prospects could balance deals. The questionable one is Nash to Boston. I could see Nash to NYR for Kreider, McDonagh, NYR 1st as possible ????

That might provide something like... (May not be built for next year but offers more promise and a bright future)

Umberger Brassard Yakupov
Paajarvi Krejci Atkinson
Prospal Johansen Dorsett
Gillies Letestu Boll/Kubalik

JJ, Wiz, Hamilton, Nikitin, Moore, Methot

Schneider
UFA/York

Probably just a homer but they seem closer to solving the problem (maybe not realistic ????)

To OP, I wouldn't even make one of those moves. You just made us a worse team.

That would never happen. Krejci is putting on the same numbers as Nash + he scored the most points in the playoffs last year which helped his team win the cup and Hamilton is great prospect. The 1st rounder is gonna be late so they could live without it. But all that packaged in for a player that wants out and is making $7.8M and has basically been a 60 point player for his career is nothing but an overpayment.

Sure Nash would put up better numbers probably if he played in a better team. It's still a really steep price to pay for a player that may or may not be a +80 point player in a good team.

I agree. I would've never thought you could become worse but I was wrong. He made Howson look like a god with these bad trade proposals (no offense OP).

Moderator Hat OnThe proposals herein are being universally panned, and the thread isn't going anywhere useful. Time to move on, I think.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!
