The bloke from Keane has the best voice (minus when he's running around while playing live).
They did a cover of Under Pressure by Queen, better than Freddy Mercury imo because of his voice though I don't like that style of singing, I prefer the usual Keane songs that are sometimes soft but have big choruses.
Another one I really enjoy is the singer from Swedish band kent. His voice is a bit unique, maybe not the best but the way he pronounces and enunciates those Swedish words when he sings is fantastic (I can't even understand them).
Kent is the perfect example of great songwriting making the vocalist shine.

I can't understand Swedish tbh so I don't know if the song-writing makes kent's vocalist shine. I love the way he pronounces the words though. I've listened to other Swedish bands and artists who sing in Swedish and they're nice but they just don't have that same magic.
Anyways, good example of the nice soft voice by the lead singer of Keane. I love how it goes from soft to a nice big chorus on so many of their songs.
I love how the the OP left Jim Morrison off his list and said that Mercury, Plant, Jagger, Lennon and McCartney were over rated...but had Bono on his list.
Also, no Joplin?
The sixties and seventies were a time where music was king and dictated so many things. Those bands that the OP said were not the best ever, shows me that he really has no idea what he's talking about. Those musicians paved the way for the change that has happened in music this far. Morrison was the original sex symbol. There isn't a rock band out there tht wasn't influenced in some way by Zeppelin, the stones or the Beatles. When Mercury rocks the UK, South America gets horny.
