It was absolutely hysterical cause when the Mina died, I turned to my friend and I'm like "damn bro, things just got real, I'm not gonna laugh again" ... literally 2 seconds after I say that, Hansel somersaults into the front door and gets a shovel in the face.
That part got a lot of laughs in my theater too! I'm glad i wasn't the only one who appreciated that lol.

Critics and internet movie efficianados take themselves too seriously. This was a fun movie

Yes, two scenes in particular stood out. The one with the Ogre/Troll/Whatever and the Sheriff, and the one with the wires.

Glad you enjoyed it!

I just saw it again in 3D.. much better than 2D!! The 3D in this movie is actually very solid.

Went expecting a fun mindless action movie, got exactly that. Left the theater satisfied and entertained. Worth the cost as long as you're not a critic.

It might be able to pull on $50M in North America. It should be at $25M+ heading into the weekend and only Warm Bodies comes out this week. If it can pull in $12M, it'll be looking good to hit $45M-$50M. Which should net them around $25M. Overseas gross off $100M (it could easily hit that with the European countries), would net them around $40M and give the studio a profit.

I'm surprised its doing so well. Budget with marketing is rumoured to be $83M (marketing is generally covered by home media).

A sequel would be amazing!!

10 days, $97M worldwide. And this hasn't even been released where people think it will do best (Europe). This could be well on it's way to $250M worldwide.

From my knowledge with budgets, they've nearly made back their production budget (and will have completely by next weekend). After that, they will start tackling their marketing budget (rumoured to be $23M). They should be able to pull a decent profit from theatres, plus all home media sales.

This is (at this point) a hit. Seems to be on it's way to pull in a $50M+ profit. Pretty good for a movie they had on the shelf for years.

PS. The IMAX version was awesome.

Got free tickets to this. Not gonna be a cult classic or anything but it was fun enough to merit the gas money lol. Jeremy Renner shirtless but not Gemma is an atrocity

Thought the whole Renner, white witch romance was forced and didn't work at all. Ending fell completely flat.

6/10

It'll be a cult classic if the Extreme version is as good as I think it'll be.

The studio cut out a lot of gore and comedy for the theatrical release. The extreme version (director's cut) that is being planned for bluray is going to re-insert all of the extra gore. Also he's going to re-insert A LOT of comedy (probably very campy) that was cut for the theatrical version.

I was disappointed when the one line from the trailer was not in the film. That line killed me. It was in the big witch fight when Renner goes down and tells Mina to fire on his signal. In the theatrical cut, the scene cuts there. In the trailer, Mina asks what the signal is and Renner replies "Oh, it'll be me.. blowing one of these *****es heads off."

I'm going to see this movie just because Gemma and Pihla Viitala (The naked Finnish witch) are on it

Hopefully Pihla will land more roles in Hollywood...she is talented actress...next is the role in pilot Lost Angels (former LA Noir) tv series.

Pihla:

That would require people to be very interested in dishing out that kind of dough for it.

Dredd has made something like $40M on home media sales so far

It's made more than $150M so far and still has to release in most European Markets.

Hoping for a sequel!

I loved Dredd. The only thing I didn't like about it was the that the drug did what it did purely to make the movie 3D and a few of those scenes were annoying. But you get over them quick and I loved the movie.

I didn't mind the drug for the 3d.

I liked the simplicity of the story. Nice to see a "super-hero" (?) movie where the objective isn't OMG SAVE THE WORLD!!!

Dredd isn't a superhero by any means nor is the movie a super hero movie. You need to differentiate between "a superhero comic book" and "a comic book" movie.

Sure, he's a super-hero. If Hawkeye is, there's no reason Dredd isn't.

Hansel and Gretel surpassed $200M this weekend (sitting at $206M now).

And with that, Paramount has put a sequel into development! Hell yeah!
