I am with you. Metal makes me feel phoney. Like I am fake angry or something? I dunno. They should rename this the metal thread.

Reading back a bit further, I take that back. Other types of music are being discussed.

Have you seen them live Bubba?

Surprised you are not more into the crazy metal, have you ever considered going to Wacken?

haven't had the Chance yet. Missed Slipknot while they were in Munich. No time to go back than.

Had the Chance to get tickets to Wacken next year. For me it's not worth all that Money. Bands will be good but still not really a Festival guy

Not good - I open up the Blackhawks' board at the start of May and The Music Thread is at the top of the list.

Embedding country music is the final insult.

A year ago this would've been totally different for me, but last year I made a crazy decision to give a new genre a chance and I haven't looked back since...

I hate country "music" with a passion and would kill it if I could. Rap is a close second.

Curious to why?

What is your preference?

Not looking to argue but I am always curious with people's taste in music and why they have that taste.

I personally listen to everything minus christian rock and death metal.

Me too pretty much. Different music fits different situations

Really like Sturgill Simpson, haven't tried Chris Stapleton yet. I can't stand the bro-country or pop country or whatever they want to call it. Now alt-country/ americana/outlaw country is a completely different story. I grew up listening and still listen to rock, punk, blues and even some heavy metal, so if you have similar tastes you might just like some alt-country.

Rap is incredible. All of your future opinions are invalid.

I'm a big rap fan, it sucks when people dismiss the genre.

To be fair a lot of the current mainstream stuff people hear is garbage, same could be argued for country. Personally I find it a turn off when most of the music performed is written by someone else. That's a big factor in not only pop, but R&B, country, and IIRC a good portion of the current rap scene.

Kinda why I personally stick to rock and metal for the most part, aside from the commercial acts. Not to say there isn't some good to find in any genre, but with some it takes more digging, IMO.

I definitely hear you on not liking stuff written by other people. There are some really fantastic non-mainstream artists in all genres though. Including rap.

Absolutely, throw a few names out and you may change a mind or two. Worth a shot, eh?

The local guy, Chance The Rapper is a must play.

Tech N9ne is awesome.

Atmosphere is really good.

I really like Childish Gambino (yes, the guy from Community)

Tyler The Creator is someone who can appeal to some.

Mac Miller is a dude some like, same with Macklemore.

I think most of these can draw in some non rap fans.

I am sorry.....but rap sucks ass to me. So does country but not nearly at the level of rap......which is a waste of ****ing space. I could say they are talentless. But then, a pipe fitter that turns a wrench has talent. Rappers are ****ing below that level by a landslide.

Regardless, Tool, Maiden, Slayer, Ramones, Radiohead, X, Meat Puppets, etc. along with a **** ton of others blow the doors off country/rap slop. I just lump rap fans in with lazy entitled ****s.

Oh, thanks for bringing your close mindedness here. I'm not taking anything away from your hockey related posts, but I think this one is off base.
